One of the more mysterious examples is this article about DHS now allowing the government to spy on queer people, specifically because they're queer.

/r/Privacy has deleted links to this article at least four times, and no existing link to this article is currently up.

Carrotcypher is a mod on /r/Privacy, and is pretty clearly responsible for at least one of the unexplained takedowns.

Oh my god, this is a real Fosstodon rule.

As an aside: Only two TBS instances block Fosstodon.org.

Four TBS instances block the funny horse-wearing-short-pants instance.

Sure wonder what the difference is! 🙃

It's very silly.

I'm not sure why @fosstodon (or /r/mastodon) would pick such an obvious troll as a mod, and then keep him even when he's basically inactive (less than one post a week, on average).

Scholar.social, which allows repeated deadnaming as a form of harassment, has a perfect score on The Bad Space.

Every single The Bad Space source instance is okay with deadnaming as a way to harass queer people.

Also, highlighting how Ra'il is still deadnaming eris.

Like, there really is no other reason for eris to get the scare quotes around her name but Ro and me and David to not have scare quotes around our names.

Ro obviously says nothing about this, because he thinks transphobia is good.

I do still think that Ro might think the troll David is the other david that Ro attacked for no reason, and then blamed for a DDOS attack that never happened.

Okay this is a really interesting one.

Ro was apparently fully aware that he was making false, sexualized allegations against a trans woman for the actions of a cis man.

And that Eris, the trans woman he chose to make up sexualized lies about, stood up against it.

Just to clarify:

- rage.love is fine with deadnaming

- queer.group is fine with deadnaming

- indiepocalypse.social is fine with deadnaming

- blackqueer.life is fine with deadnaming

- queer.garden is fine with deadnaming

- mastodon.art is fine with deadnaming

- solarpunk.moe is fine with deadnaming

- colorid.es is fine with deadnaming

- cathode.church is fine with deadnaming

Not a single one of these instances has taken any action against this months-long harassment campaign.

I spoke too soon.

Just actual deadnaming.

Can somebody try to explain to me what BlackSky/NorthSky are trying to do?

Because I can really not reconcile what they seem to be trying to do, with my own understanding of what's possible with BlueSky's almost entirely centralized structure.

Let trans people talk about transphobia.

Not every instance of transphobia needs to be an excuse to have a discussion about how all hate is bad, or about how some other group has it bad too.

When trans people are hurt, shut up and let trans people talk about it.

Somebody does a transphobia.

Somebody else says "we should talk about how all discrimination is bad".

And then nobody talks about transphobia.

I know I sound like a broken record on this stuff, but it's true.

There are no queer-majority cities anywhere, where queer people get to make day-to-day governing decisions about parks or libraries or hospitals or zoning.

Queer people don't even get the privilege of being raised by other queer people.The vast majority of us are raised outside of our communities.

There are vanishingly few opportunities for queer people to have meaningful self-determination in any aspect of their lives.

We get to build strong, robust, safe communities through community-level organizing.

There are layers upon layers upon layers of queer community that you just won't see from Mastodon.social.

It is genuinely revolutionary.

And these "trust and safety" groups want to destroy all of that, with centralized moderation.

The Fediverse is safer than other social networks because of it's decentralized structure.

On Fedi:

- Queer people get to host their own servers.

- Queer people get exclusive control over what their server rules are, and how they're enforced.

- Queer people get to choose who can interact with (or even see) them.

- Queer people get to govern themselves.

Queer safety, like exists on Fedi, *cannot* exist on Twitter or Bluesky or any other centralized social media platform.

Ugh, I'm exhausted.

Can creepy corpo organizations stop trying to implement centralized control over the Fediverse for, like, 30 seconds.

People loudly proclaiming that homophobia and transphobia are not really serous like racism is, and then refusing to go into details.
