Well, I’m so desperate for better paying work that I’m going to try my hand at Uber driving. It’s probably going to be a waste but I’m going to give it a try. Even part time jobs are hard to come by in my area. Times are really tough thanks to the orange asshat.

I’m sitting at the desk at my security guard job and my eyes are closing. It’s not good at all. The job is just so boring and not stimulating.

I’m quite frankly alarmed at #Trump calling in the #nationalguard in #california. This is a major posse commitatus issue. I hope the national guard refuses to police the people. I hope they lay down their arms in refusal. Trump must be stopped.

I am seriously rethinking some of my future career goals. I used to think that I wanted to build a large therapy practice once I graduate with my MSW and complete my 3200 required supervised clinical hours.

I just want to be a solo practitioner. I don't want the headache of managing people. I simply want to be accountable to myself. I don't want to be an employer. I might consider offering supervision services to new MSW graduates on low fee for service basis to help them get their supervised clinical hours.

But yeah, I think I want the simplest life possible. I don't need to make a mint. I want a balance of cash pay clients and insurance pay clients. That would be good enough for me.

#onpremisesinfrastructure is vastly underrated. What are you going to do when #GoogleWorkspace or #Microsoft365 shut your account down because their AI decides to and you have no recourse. You can’t sue them because you’ve agreed to their terms of service. Oops? 🤷♂️

Also, what many don’t know is even if data is stored in the cloud, the customer is still responsible for backing up and archiving their data. The cloud company does some rudimentary disaster recovery but has specific indemnification against data loss. Marketing conveniently glosses over this. 😈

The #cloud cannot be trusted for small businesses. #Selfhosting is the way to go. It’s not hard at all and I am in the midst of writing a book for people with a minimal technical background to get started as easily as possible. Or even for them to have a technical friend help them out.

@FlashMobOfOne I do because I used to work in government and asked for Apple’s assistance to get into a phone that was a government issued phone but locked to an individual’s iCloud account and they refused. They are as good as their word!

@FlashMobOfOne I can’t either. I need my iPhone because it controls my hearing aids. Plus I like I actually like it for a bunch of other things and reasons. At least Apple fights law enforcement and won’t give in to demands to break into customer phones. I mean for now at least.

@FlashMobOfOne Privacy and control are my main goals here. I will still need a VPS to act as a proxy of sorts because my internet provider does not give me a static IP but that's fine. I can manage. I might even be able to do dynamic DNS.

The more I get into #selfhosting, the more I want to get my shit out of the #cloud. I am going to stock away some money for a used Dell OptiPlex 7060 Mid-Tower. The plan is to install #AlmaLinux on it and for it to become a dedicated server for my small business. I'm going to add a 24TB enterprise-grade HD and it will run email, Nextcloud, a CRM, ERPNext, and my website. No more dependence on service providers!

I may not like Joe Biden but I wish prostate cancer on nobody. I hope that he has some good treatment options available to him.
