To Whom It May Concern at "Management",

To the best of our knowledge, our refrigerator is currently failing.

We previously contacted the "Management" on Monday, July 14, 2025, regarding our refrigerator of eight years, which we have used without issue since moving in back in 2017. At that time, we reported that it was making unusually loud noises — a mix of a high-pitched electronic hum and a banging or knocking sound. Additionally, we noted that ice was building up inside the refrigerator, particularly on the freezer floor, ceiling, and door.

On the same day (Monday, July 14), an unknown staff member came to inspect the appliance. At the time, our freezer was nearly empty, containing only a few small bags of frozen vegetables and one box of hamburgers. While our 14 cu. ft. refrigerator is smaller than ideal, we have successfully used and maintained it for the past eight years without issue. We were therefore disappointed when the staff member took one look at the contents, moved them forward, and claimed everything was fine — suggesting that the issue may have been due to how we were loading the refrigerator.

Under the previous management of the "management" — before the "new management" assumed oversight — it was common for residents to feel unfairly blamed for reported issues. I recall multiple instances where we were told we must have caused the problem: a leaking basement on only our third (3rd) day here, an old roof that leaked, a failed sump pump, and even a tree that broke during a thunderstorm. Each of these situations, clearly resulting from age, weather, or mechanical failure, was nonetheless framed as the resident’s fault. This has fostered a lingering sense of unease and reluctance to report problems — particularly when they are beyond any tenant's control.

Attached are recent photos showing our freezer voluntarily emptied, aside from the same box of hamburgers. As you will see, ice continues to build up inside the unit — a clear sign of malfunction, through no fault of our own. After all, we have used and maintained this refrigerator in the same manner for eight (8) years without issue, and we would be happy to continue doing so.

We respectfully request that the "management" please reassess the situation. We would greatly appreciate a thorough and fair evaluation.

Took a look at it, claimed our refrigerator is working just fine, and implied we could always buy another one if we're not happy with the current refrigerator. 🙄

Today (Tuesday, July 15, 2025), following my initial email titled “Our Address Refrigerator,” one of "management's" maintenance repairmen promptly came to recheck the refrigerator.

The condition of the unit was consistent with the photos previously provided — ice building up throughout the refrigerator, with only the box of hamburgers inside. At the time of the visit, the refrigerator was not making any unusual sounds, as they tend to occur at random intervals.

We explained that the unit alternates between excessive cold (causing ice buildup) and defrost mode, during which water pools inside the refrigerator. We’ve been manually removing the excess water with towels. It's worth noting that the defrost cycle appears overly aggressive, as our frozen items (such as the hamburger patties) have occasionally started to thaw during this process.

We were informed by the maintenance technician that a specialist will be scheduled to further inspect the refrigerator. We now await that follow-up visit.

Thank you for your time and continued attention to this matter.

Pretty sure I don't need that expert to look over my refrigerator. These temps are not what a freezer should be — not even in defrost mode.

From my point of view, this has been a long time coming, with one of the first stones in the foundation of this new regime being laid long before Donald Trump ran for president — in 2010, with Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, 558 U.S. 310.

It was a landmark decision of the United States Supreme Court regarding campaign finance laws, in which the Court found that laws restricting the political spending of corporations and unions were inconsistent with the Free Speech Clause of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. It sparked significant controversy and was criticized for promoting corporate personhood and granting disproportionate political power to large corporations.

But why Donald Trump, of all people?

I would say part of it was timing. Part of it was his ability to be distracting, keeping people from always seeing the bigger picture. Part of it was that he could be manipulated.

Expect the unexpected.

No one would have predicted that the United States could slide into fascism, and far too many believed our checks and balances would prevent such a tragedy. It was inconceivable that the House of Congress, the Senate, and the Supreme Court could become complicit and nullify those checks and balances.

If Donald Trump and his allies have proven anything, it’s that what may seem like crazy talk today can become tomorrow’s reality.
