@thomasfuchs personally I don’t believe that AI has any form of consciousness. But I do find it interesting that philosophy has a whole section of arguments about whether you can even know if other people are conscious — from a philosophical perspective, AI consciousness must raise interesting questions!

@europlus @thomasfuchs I wish I understood quite what Zuck thought the metaverse was meant to be.

When I worked there, we kept being told that Horizon Worlds wasn't "the metaverse", it was just an example piece of software that used metaverse concepts. But I never quite worked out how "the metaverse" was different to "multiplayer VR". It didn't seem to be about persistent identities, or a single shared environment…

I do think Zuck had _something_ in mind, but I never quite understood!

@WarnerCrocker @BenRiceM I don't. This time, anyone who voted for him knew what they were getting. They'll be happy with all the shit that happens to them, as long as some minority is getting it slightly worse than they are.
