2/2 or patriotism. We're taught that the US is the freest and best country in the world.... We've been manipulated. Then, we begin to see our whole history of flaws, and it hurts. Then, digging deeper, you discover that we can be better and protesting is not as important as voting and taking over at the bottom. Change always comes from the bottom up and from our, truthfully enough, young people.

The problem is always extremism. It's all too easy in these times to employ the tactics of history. And, that is placing labels on a group of people who when broken down probably have more varied views on how to get from here to there. I support students protesting anything the fucking hell they want. I know that once mature most will have learned the critical thinking skills to analyze problems and seek sensible solutions, rather than ride the hobby horse(s) of the day.

@FantasticalEconomics I'm struggling with your point to the extent that protest is an immediate reaction to generic issues; whereas sensible solutions require time, brainstorming, analysis, and negotiation. In short, I don't see much overlap between the on demand nature of protests and the time honored science of solving problems. Care to expand on your point?

@FantasticalEconomics It's a great point. As a method of learning and personal growth, no doubt you've nailed it. Unfortunately, manipulating hearts and minds can be abusive and misfocused as often as it's not either of these.

@BritishTechGuru Well, yes and no.... we've made great strides in energy conservation. I'm a power electronics design engineer. I've seen ot over the last 30 years. But with every improvement, something else comes along.

True.... I think big utilities and transmission is a dinosaur of the 20th century. Everyone can be self-sufficient with renewable. You would think conservatives would be all over personal responsibility for your own energy demand, but they are more interested in screwing people and planet!

I've heard that approximately 30% of fertilized eggs pass naturally. If life begins at conception, Christian or not, you're murdering babies even if you're attempting to have children. By this logic, all sexually active women should be strapped to an apparatus once a month to collect them poor, innocent babies. Also, doesn't this make all sexually active women of certain age murderers? And, the men accomplices? .... 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

That's true too, but would you agree that it's not particularly moral to pretend you have an invisible friend that has power over others, whether they like it or not? That's the moral dilemma not if believing, but of telling others of that belief.
