I don't understand why #xmpp has no more success? There are many clients over all operating systems and hosting a server is not very complicated. If you use activate some xep, you can get a secured solution to communicate. For me, it's the good tool for instant messaging.

Do you remember, several decades ago, when icons, buttons, logos, smileys.. were all stored in a unique gif or png image on your website ? This image was cut by background-image css rules to extract elements from it with position, height, width and shifting. So, there were only one request to the server to grab all the design elements. That was funny and tricky to do. I wonder if some sites still works that way 🤔
@aral@EU_Commission I don't understand the problem. It will impact only Apple's users. I don't know how the EU could force Apple to manage web apps. When Linux, several years ago, did not manage Flash applets for example. Nobody forced dev to manage them. If decide to disable JavaScript in my browser, nobody forces me to enable it
