I can support pissing off racists and making them reveal who they really are, and if you ask me, the solution to the old problem of how Santa can reach that many homes in a few hours without breaking the speed of light is that there is more than one Santa (examples: Julemanden lives in Greenland, Jultomten in Lapland) so why wouldn't some of them be black?

It may not be real, but the Danish national ID system had a similar one at the beginning.

To prevent brute force attempts, they would lock a user account after N failed login attempts (even though brute forcing should be impossible with one time codes), so all you needed to lock someone elses account was their username and a wrong password - and it's easy to guess a wrong password😀

The solution they chose was to tell people not to tell anyone their username, but when I went to create mine, I was told that the username I wanted was already taken.

So I had both someone elses username and a reason to want to lock them out (they took the username I wanted). I didn't, but I easily could have.

"If you don't trust them, you can't trust us"😉

The only place NAT should be allowed is lab/experiment networks, where you might need to duplicate a production IP range.

Once you use NAT there, your IP telephony software needs fragile workarounds just for Sally in marketing to be able to call Alice in legal. And in the next version, those fragile workarounds will be replaced with a cloud service that sells your trade secrets to your competitor.

"But Skype just works". Skype is a great example of the above, it used to have all kinds of NAT workarounds, now it goes via a server where Microsoft listens in on your calls.

Did you ever try it?

I have heard the lower system requirements than the previous version claim about pretty much every version of Windows back to Windows 98 being less demanding than Windows 95.

If there is any truth to it, Windows 10 should run pretty much infinitely fast on a 386sx with 4MB of RAM and a 40MB hard drive (split into two partitions, of course, because FAT16 can only handle 32 MB).

Maybe I'm missing something, but what's the point of boosting AND favoriting the same post on #Mastodon ?

The way I understand it, a boost is "I likr this and want my followers to see it", and a favorite is "I like this, but my followers probably aten't interested". Which makes doing both seem pointless to me, but I often see the same person doing both in my notifications, so what am I missing?

If I'm reading it correctly, the keypresses insert a static date / time, the function is dynamic.

So you should ba able to subtract them and show "this document is x days old".

Perhaps you mean online for 10 years? That makes more sense, I barely noticed when we switched from paper to online, because that only changed how I didn't have to do anything. And there was a large overlap, with an additional phone based "press 1 to change your personal income" system as well.

In 2008 I needed to make a change, and I had the option of doing it online.

No changes means everything is correct has always been how it worked for me (Denmark).

I'm not sure that's intentional. That message looks more like a "the intern wrote this code because we fired the developers months ago, and nobody knows how to get the QA servers online" error to me.
