@strypey Quicksy app creates accounts on quicksy.im XMPP server, it also has a directory. Prav forked both client and server and we self host the server. Currently it runs on donations, but going forward, we want users to subscribe to cover costs. We are in the process of registering as a coop.

We are in the process of shutting down the #diaspora instances at diasp.in and poddery.com If possible, we'd like to keep some public profile and tag pages in the same url as static html files. diaspora is a ruby on rails application, wordpress and django has tools to export static pages from an instance, we need to explore if similar tools exist for #ruby on #rails. Simple wget would have been enough if it was not auto scrolled pages. Would you like to try and help us for preserving history?

You can help us in this process if you can read and write rules. We need to follow a series of requirements to register and need a good set of rules to govern ourselves. We have drafts for registration steps to follow and byelaws to govern ourselves. More reviews would be good.

So far in #debphoshfund our efforts were in identifying priority areas for mobile gnu/linux.

Now we are moving to the next stage, contacting maintainers of specific projects and setting up a bounty / targeted fund raising.

Our first such project is make @organicmaps adaptive / responsive on mobile screen.

Currently gnu/linux frontend is different from android and ios. It is using QT but not yet using kirigami or other options smaller screens.

Work on @prav iOS app will start next week.

Hoping to have one more easy on boarding option for #iOS users as well (#Quicksy was released for iOS recently).

@lbja I think that is too complicated to implement. At least that is what I remember Daniel Gultsch's comment about it.

@juliank I think one major pain point currently in #XMPP is adding new devices. Matrix encryption issues I have experienced are less frequent compared to XMPP. IMHO, device cross signing can improve the situation to a large extend.

This is one of the high priority issues identified by @prav community and we hope to focus on this once we finish https://prav.app/donate/custom-username/

Once the XEP gets validated by XMPP community, we plan to run another crowd funding campaign to implement this (we submitted a proposal to NLNet for this, but was not accepted).

Drafting a method for verifying new devices for #XMPP end to end encrypted chats.

This is a very early draft/brain dump, once a few people validates, it can be submitted to official review process.

#Matrix already implements cross signing and this makes encryption experience very smooth, but in XMPP using multiple devices in encrypted rooms is really a mess.

XMPP already have a concept of master key per identity defined in OpenPGP for XMPP. We can combine these two.

#debutsav #kochi group photo. We had a session to introduce #FreeSoftware and #Debian Then people with a debian based system joined for packaging workshop. Others went for documentation sprint.

I showed updating node-del package from 7.0.0 to 7.1.0 and many people followed me and built node-del 7.1.0 in their own machines. Some started working on updating other nodejs / ruby packages to newer minor / patch releases. Hopefully some of them will stick around and contribute.

@strypey Fedi developers will need to go to events like this and talk to people outside usual circles. For now I'm focusing on #XMPP as I think replacing #WhatsApp is more important right now.

@strypey @snikket_im Delta Chat is relatively new and I don't use it. Basically I'm already familiar with #XMPP, then #Quicksy already provides the onboarding and contact discovery familiar to most people through WhatsApp (SMS OTP sign up and contact discovery via phone book).

Unlike most other software, choice of messaging app is not just personal (the social cost of not using WhatsApp is too high and not easy for most people). So we need a different strategy and well coordinated campaign.

@kariboka could you try again now? We switched from Vonage to Twilio today (we use both providers). Do you know any SMS providers that work in Brazil?
