Anyone here know of an *offline* reverse #geolocation database?
I want to convert a lat/long into Country and, possibly, city.
All the results I can see are for IP lookup, which I don't need.

@pfefferle @lordmatt it's OK. Forced me to redesign some of my files which had lazy assumptions ?
@pfefferle got it!
I'll send a PR soon for disabling specific types of comments (I get lots of reposts that I don't want to moderate, for example).
@pfefferle sorry for being grumpy.
It is a great and useful plugin. I just wasn't expecting so many breaking changes first thing in the morning.
@pfefferle and now I need to check the comment meta for "protocol" right?
It would be really nice if these changes were documented somewhere.
@pfefferle My comment code was calling `Linkbacks_Handler::get_canonical_url( $comment );`
Which I guess you've now removed?
@pfefferle No, it appears something you changed is messing with my comment walker. I'll do some digging.
@pfefferle Ummm... It also seems to have deleted all my comments!
They're in the DB, but not showing on any post.
Investigating now.
@pfefferle
It seems to have turned any existing mentions into a sort of facepile.
Is there any way of getting them back into the comments?

(I can raise on GitHub if that's easier?)
@pfefferle
I've updated! Just waiting for some comments now ?
@pfefferle brilliant news! Congratulations ?
The latest "innovation" from Meta is - I shit you not - *arms*!
They are *super* realistic and just what the platform needs to stop it from stagnating then dying.
The screenshots people are sharing is not the *new* #Twitter API pricing.
Those are the *existing* costs for accessing Twitter's premium APIs.
Developers can see them at https://developer.twitter.com/en/account/subscriptions/
Please do a little bit of due diligence before spreading misinformation.
@Gargron I guess a few things:
1. Let users discover posts by metadata - for example ISBN, star rating, etc.
2. Format the post in a specific way to people can see the data.
3. Let robots or other apps read the metadata to do something with it.
I'm not quite sure *what*. This isn't a serious Pull Request (yet) ?
? blog! “Book Review: Rising Tide (Lauren Fraser mysteries Book 2) - Jennifer Palgrave”
★★★★☆
Nat Spiller, an admired climate change activist, has accidentally drowned. That’s the police verdict. But was it an accident? His partner Ellie thinks otherwise. Pam, Ellie’s aunt, draws a reluctant Lauren Fraser into the mystery. It's a bit weird…

Is there any way to post #MetaData to an ActivityPub post?
The blog post linked to above has Schema / JSON+LD. But the toot just has a star rating.
Is it possible / worthwhile to add something more?
The fire service for Aotearoa New Zealand has a brilliant campaign running, trying to stop people using the stove if they're drunk.

@Gargron oh! Wow! That's super helpful. I will have a play around this weekend.
Thanks for the tip (and, y'know, everything else ?)
Ages ago, I built an "On This Day" service for Twitter [1].
It was really useful (to me) for seeing what I'd posted on this day in previous years.
I'd like to build the same thing for Mastodon, but it looks like the #API doesn't do date-based searches.
So I'm going to build it using archive data. Would anyone like to help?
Also, what's the best way to suggest improvements to the Mastodon search API? I don't want to be demanding - I want to work collaboratively.
