Anyone here know of an *offline* reverse #geolocation database?
I want to convert a lat/long into Country and, possibly, city.
All the results I can see are for IP lookup, which I don't need.

@Edent What you're looking for is a GIS database, I'm pretty sure.
@pettter
Which one do you use?
@Edent I personally don't work with that at all really. I've friends who've worked with ArcGIS a lot, but that's probably overkill for your usecase. It's possible that a slightly easier out could be to use some OpenStreetMap library and search for enclosing features on the coarsest offline world map, but now I'm just speculating.
@Edent Probably write it explicitly, but apologies for being a bit of a reply guy.
@pettter I'm always looking for feedback on how to make my writing clearer.
What could I have done to make it more obvious that I was looking for people with experience in this area?
@threedaymonk @Edent Nah it's fine.
@pettter @Edent I think this is a bit unfair. Social media isn't anyone's personal research service, and I think the clue is in the "social". It's more like asking a question in the pub.
