In a tiny step away from Microsoft and Office, today I managed to convince my sister to install and use @libreoffice since she couldn’t log in to her company Microsoft account and was unable to use Word. I don’t know how long this will last for but I have a feeling that her IT skills mean it might be a while before she is logged in again so fingers crossed! It would give me a great amount of pleasure if our company dropped Office entirely.

The media (and some competitors) are very good at casually bundling both together.

Simon Wolf (simon@social.sgawolf.com)'s status on Sunday, 24-Dec-2023 00:41:27 JST Simon Wolf I’d not used my #reMarkable tablet for a little while and wanted to put some new technical PDFs on it but it seemed unable to connect to their servers to check for software updates or to synchronise.
After trying all the usual things I learnt that you can SSH into them (https://philerb.com/2021/12/26/remarkable-tablet-ssh/) and then I was able to update the DHCP configuration on it via `dhcpcd -k`.
It now work beautifully again but a “Refresh” button on the WiFi settings screen would be easier.
