@evan 2--5 based on which _accounts_ I have, ignoring any automatic aliases following `-` or `+` in the `local-part`

    Also, a rant: https://blog.narf.ssji.net/2012/12/11/valid_email_address_characters/

+ is a valid character in an email address!
      from Olivier Mehani
I like my mailbox organised. And I like things to be automated. Fortunately, email systems support aliases for their users, so more than one email address reaches the same person. This allows for automatic filtering depending on which address the message was sent to. What's even better is that these systems can match a pattern

    @bortzmeyer Classe 3 et 4, c'est celles dans l'espace d'adressage étendu de 256 a 512, et 513 à 768. Ça utilise des bits plus forts, donc la puissance d'adressage augmente.

Et je croyais que tu savais réseauter.

    > "I just worry we're going to have a generation of kids who have a post-acute infection syndrome because we failed to protect them," Dr Putrino says, "because we told this lie over and over again that kids have nothing to worry about with COVID."

The myth that COVID is 'harmless' for kids has left millions of children with long COVID invisible. Here's what they want you to know https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-06-16/children-with-long-covid-dismissed-doctors-myth-virus-harmless/103959078 via @wallabagapp

Kids are losing 'huge chunks' of their childhood to long COVID. Too many are being told it's 'all in their head'
      from https://www.abc.net.au/news/hayley-gleeson/7028910
They're losing their formative years to this debilitating disease. But for too many children with long COVID, finding help is a frustrating and traumatic process that leaves them feeling isolated and invisible.

@pewnack Yep. ME/CFS and Long COVID have a lot of overlap and common symptoms. In a way, higher numbers might put more pressure on researching and understanding them better.

But we know what causes this surge, and nothing is done to control this new cause.

@lanodan The difference between an open decentralised protocol and a proprietary centralised service.

I was musing about how, when ICQ is off, that's it. It will be a pain to recreate the experience at scale. Protocols, you can reimplement them and redeploy them.

I guess one could still reimplement a fake ICQ backend and re-cobble the network from scratch. But still.

    Protocols!

The World is Throwing a Fit of Collective Amnesia

“Four years ago, a dangerous new virus started spreading. Nobody knew anything about it. We had no choice but to use masks and social distancing. They protected us. We wore masks that were okay but not great. We got vaccines, but not great ones. Now we know better. We have better masks. We have better air purifiers. We're developing better vaccines. We have nose sprays. We could actually control Covid instead of submitting to constant infection that results in inevitable disability and slow death. We don't have to accept it.”

@drewdevault I just occurred to me that using Free software licenses was a Ulysses Pact. And that having CLA was a way to wiggle out of it.

I'll view all CLAs with suspicion from now on, and likely avoid contributing if I can.

@mike @mastodonmigration @evan I'm always puzzled about quote posts. Aren't they just, at their core, just a link to another message?

It feels like they're not entirely preventable. The UX of quote posts can make them harder, such as no UI to automatically create one, and no preview on links, but... isn't that the case already?

What am I missing, and what else could be considered as a feasible measure?
