    yeah linux is bad at responsiveness unless configured properly. Hammer the cpu, gpu, disk enough and the thing stops to a crawl.

    i dont do anything complex, just subvolumes for potential snapshot usage, and compression, and it's fine.
    I enjoyed it on a slow as fuck SMR HDD because it made that machine fly, in comparison Windows 10 was often unusable. The update or defender processes would hammer the disk so much that doing anything was nigh impossible

    I've heard the opposite, some guy said he was using a macbook from before the apple silicon era and it was fine. I swear people's experiences are all over the place which is why i rather test stuff myself

    also, im in a dilemma between moving to a macbook or staying on x86+linux. I find the latter more exciting but also full of pain points, and the former is a more or less solid experience, that will more or less just work too.
