@SolSoCoG I can't find the specific toot, but someone said they eliminated most of their bot traffic by adding as the first checkbox in a select list that said something like "I'm a bot (this choice is ignored)". It was very clever, since any human reading would know not to select that.

@bagder @kaia I happen to be driving a new MINI, and they list every license in use. There's a section just for Open Source Compliance, good on MINI (BMW).

@AnthonyJK @AnarchoNinaWrites The problem is Zuck and his ilk have no qualms about scraping the internet, so if it's available to see it's going into their machinery no matter what. And the "big data" mining operations put the pieces together to know too much about everyone everywhere. So even doing a personal blog isn't as safe as one would hope.
The twist added by the fediverse is one loses control over how content is disseminated, but I don't think it's too far from scraped blog pages.

@SolSoCoG I want to say "no" because my previous experience with IIS is that it has historically been horrible when it comes to high loads. But I haven't been exposed to Microsoft stuff in literally decades so I'll leave it up to you to decide what's best.

@SolSoCoG I appreciate your position on this. I pointed out in a different reply that Microsoft previously engaged an open platform (the web) and worked hard to corrupt it. There's no evidence Facebook/Meta won't do the something similar with ActivityPub.
