That's what I thought, but my kids seem to disagree, stating that while it does come from charisma, you don't use it in the same way
Unless they're pulling my leg

(as a GenX-er, I am unable to place "rizz" correctly in a sentence)
So... Basically a modern version of the Mechanical Turk, except it is 1000 Indians
Web sites that split the login process by making users enter their username and password separately in two different pages…
WHY?
This breaks both my human brain's workflow (username, tab, password, enter), and that of my password manager
I will block Threads, but it may not amount to much
When Threads starts to Meta-stasise the Fediverse, I'll pack my things and go
I'd rather find myself in a barren desert than in an ever growing field of cancerous tumours
@silverwizard on a slightly different topic (or a tangent if you prefer), but still very Canadian: today a customer created new servers for their in-house ERP. Customer is in the business of rubber hose manufacturing.
They called their servers HosERP and HosERP-DEV
All I can see is "Hoser Herp Derp".
When two Franco-Ontarians meet…
They speak entirely in English because they have no idea the other one can speak French
This is what happened today when the tech came in to fix the furnace
He realised upon leaving, when he heard me say something in French to Mrs. Kicou

@machei the famous suicide bike lanes of the Northfield overpass
@silverwizard that's a good site to bookmark in order to pass some free wifi captive portals that insist on hitting an http site to validate your connection
@silverwizard you'll love it when your kids receive a Chromebook and do everything in Google Classroom
(oh, and the phone app wants admin rights on your device)
@silverwizard this is how I remember them too, which may be part of the problem!
So daughter and her boyfriend are visiting from Vancouver. One reason is that she has her graduation ceremony at UofT, but they are also attending a wedding in Toronto and visiting boyfriend's family in Ottawa.
I have no idea how that conversation played out, but today daughter ended up trying on her Mum's wedding dress, and it fits (o_O)
I am definitely not ready for this yet.
@silverwizard are we talking about general emails (like direct communication with customers and prospects), or marketing campaign/mailing lists?
If the latter, you may consider using a service that is dedicated to this type of messaging (Sengrid, Mailchimp, whatever). It will have its own DKIM signature and a different origin (of course present in SPF records), and would make human, hand-crafted artisan messages written with love less likely to be blocked by a blanket RBL listing.
If the former, then maybe you don't need salespeople after all. Just an OpenAI API subscription and a couple of scripts.
Son is going out with friends to celebrate New Year's.
My rules:
Son: Wh... What? Why would I riot or burn cars?
Me: I don't know. Technically you're French.
@silverwizard and it's federated
I noticed that the recent growth spurt of the Fediverse has caused many old-timers to switch the default privacy mode for their posts to "followers only" or "unlisted", myself included.
In my case it is because the increased exposure makes me quite uncomfortable, but other people can have different reasons.
It is interesting to see how it layers the discourse and causes a lot of traffic to be hidden from newcomers, who only see the public timeline.
@silverwizard is this some kind of reverse sarcasm?
