@kaia Here I thought this was about the “green prescriptions”, where they would pay the your side of prescribed medicine, if it includes natural ingredients. If it’s just the sugar pills and memory-water, I’m on board with that being a luxury. Homeopathy shouldn’t replace traditional treatment, just add to it.

@bagder @kaia The promt-line saying Terminal has the same energy as “road work ahead”, maybe people should modernize and show the browser-webdev-tools instead. Terminal emulators are kinda phasing out of the collective consciousness, with DOS becoming historical.

@kaia @methyltheobromine printing is surprisingly plug&play imo, like most drivers. But using non-libre codecs (all that matter) does break every update.

@Jain Jokes aside, I wish we had community-guidelines like we have license-blobs. Standardized, so that you can just reference a set of basic rules people already know, instead of having to put the same 15 bullet-points on every servers/forums about-page.

@kaia paper writing as a skill-test for certification be like: “We don’t care if what you’re writing about is useful to anyone, but it better have 30 pages and correct quotations within this arbitrary time-limit.”

@kaia @lain Unfortunately, the mechanics involved are different. Lactose-intolerance is caused by missing the enzyme lactase, that would break the lactose into two simpler sugars early-on, which are then processed further and directly absorbed by the body. When it gets to reach the intestines intact, gut-bacteria pick it up instead, imperfectly breaking it into a bunch of gaseous compounds, that much gas isn’t supposed to be there, so it causes bloating, which then translates into the other symptoms. With gluten it’s a proper allergy, meaning that the immune system directly responds to the presence of gluten, causing inflammation and harming intestinal tissue as collateral damage each time it happens, which then causes both short-term and long-term issues. Especially dangerous, because it can go undiagnosed when the short-term pain isn’t noticed or accepted as normal by some people. Because gluten only gets naturally broken down later on in digestion (which would be ok, since it’s normally inert) there is every opportunity for the immune system to take notice. There are also not as many steps to the process where one could intercept. There are enzyme pills that can denature gluten, making it unrecognizable, but it’s very difficult for them to get to every single molecule present in food. And since it’s an immune response issue, it’s more of a yes/no-switch with gluten, rather than a certain amount being the trigger. Gluten is also actively favored and selected for in normal baking, because it makes for smooth, stretchy dough that doesn’t crumble or flake as easily and afaik there aren’t any other easily available proteins that do that.

@vaartis @kaia I have seen that before. Manufacturers need to actually implement offline charging in firmware, since the charging negotiations are done in software, many cut corners on that. But even then it should attempt to boot when you plug it in, the mode it boots for charging lives outside the system partitions and is hard to break. It might just not show the charging progress. Let’s hope you can get into a working fastboot-env and unbrick.

@kaia @lain Banks have gotten better at distinguishing between custom ROMs and Root. Usually most things that don’t have a Magisk-Patch get a pass. Some still assume play-services and crash or use the awful safetynet-feature though.

@kaia @methyltheobromine I guess ours is more trusting, we get to type the ID and current state into a website, no pictures needed. Though they can ask for someone to check if the numbers are vastly different.
