@kaia Old Miktex user here, with a minimal install that pulls in packages as they are requested.
Professor: we'll be working in a shared Latex document via git, this is mandatory, please make sure it compiles before making changes.
Me: So what packages does the document need? It doesn't work with texlive-base (1,5GB).
Prof: I'm using Xelatex-full (4,5GB) and it works fine. Everyone should just use that, so that there are no conflicts.
Other person: I would like to use XYZ, which doesn't come with Xelatex.
Prof: You can do the same with these five packages, just read up on it.
I still have that install on my poor uni laptop.

@kaia To me it's ok, as long as you still get responsibility and work that matters to the company.
Some just hire you at low pay to do something completely meaningless for 8 hours, just to pad statistics and meet regulations. That really sucks when you're capable, but only there to fill a slot.

@kaia marketing is a language on it's own. If it says "100% fruit juice concentrate", it's probably ~50% apple juice because cheaper. If it's "100% orange juice", they can still add more water than what was originally in the fresh juice, making it thinner. That's why 100% direct juice" is a thing. "100% nectar", on the other hand, is just fruit juice based sugar water.
Some declarations are really tightly controlled, but only if they actually apply to the product name. And there are plenty of creative naming shemes to avoid that. :comfyevilplot:

@kaia in terms of lewd romcom there is bunny girl senpai, haganai and recently "Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian". But it depends on how hard you want to go on the degeneracy angle.

@kaia Is that a meme or a full manga?

@kaia Found to be Mankitsu Shitai Jouren-san.
A story about a girl teasing a boy working at an internet cafe.
Looks wholesomely lewd, might have to read this now.
Thanks

@kaia Nice, just don't see the ergonomics. Also I don't see when you would need an exact dpi reading.

@kaia Make sure local laws allow painted helmets and that the paint is good for helmets. Some paints can compromise the protection strength.

@kaia Bet he just left it there, for some magnet-fisher to drag back up. :senko_pout2:

@kaia I'd already be happy, if the ad-rules applied to the ads. They can happily show all kinds of stuff, but gods beware someone says a bad word in the first 15 seconds. :senko_pout2:

@kaia @sun I'm still getting over my last irresponsible purchase. But I will bookmark this for future me to consider.

@kaia I think arch uses gstreamer, so the dirty pack is gst-plugins-ugly and gst-plugin-openh264.

@kaia On opensuse there are specific "non-free" or "dirty" codec-packages. X256 is proprietary and thus sometimes can't be shipped in a default install. So maybe you only have the clean version.

@kaia I have a first gen ryzen that does that on Linux due to bad c-states, but that's not something to start happening suddenly. Maybe check through the RAM? :NepConfused:

@xarvos @kaia @lanodan As a systems-engineer, fixing printers is unfortunately on our side of the IT-fence. You'll have to just keep hacking social media profiles for people, or listen to their revolutionary software product ideas. :gura_laugh:

@kaia I think there is an exception for knives provided at the event.
...
...
So the clear solution is just to hand every attendee a knife at the entrance with a return fee. :gura_laugh:

@kaia Usually either a bad interviewer, or they already have a result in mind and just need to kill time. I once applied for an apprenticeship and the two interviewers just started chatting about football. Turns out I could have a position, but only if I went through a minority/pity slot that I qualified for but never applied to.

@kaia Mainly because of that title-card.

@kaia I know that this is a legitimate television drama, but I can't help but feel like these are moving dangerously close to smut. :blobcatthink:

@kaia No, the button itself is still in it's place, but the tiny-metal-bendy-thing (tm) behind it broke. Now the button doesn't debounce properly. When you push it once, it repeatedly hard-resets the phone for 5 minutes, because it interprets that press as you holding the button down. The FP-reader on the button still works though.
And yes, it's a known problem for the model. :tanya_sigh:
