Today in "Bob" sightings

Party favors for next Tuesday.

Them: "AI will destroy humanity!"
Me: "Does it promise?"

Sometimes there were two sets of footprints; other times there was only one.

"You promised me, 'Bob' that you would walk with me always. Why, when I have needed you most, have you not been there for me?"

And "Bob" answered, "Put me down and I'll explain it to you."

@bmacDonald94 I'm also in the middle of RA Wilson's "Cosmic Trigger" which is also concerned with these kinds of synchroncities. Probably why it's on my mind today.

As a former Hare Krishna, I can tell you the reason that I started Krishna Bhakti practice in the first place, the reason I joined ISKCON, and the reason that, after leaving ISKCON, I remained a Krisnha Bhakta almost 2 more years, is because the practice works. Chanting Hare Krishna worked. It was incredible. In hindsight, the reason that it works is because it's self-hypnosis.

But... the thing is, I've used other mantras, and they don't do the same thing. (a thread)

The Krishna Mahamantra fills me with bliss. Some fill me with a sense of awe, or peace. Some make me cry (shakti mantras do this). Some do nothing at all, no matter how incessantly I chant.

I have to wonder why this is. Is it because of the conditions I've associated with those mantras, either consciously or subconsciously? Why would my experience match that of so many others, when I had no information about a mantra's effect when I received it?

I have to wonder if certain syllables, certain tones, certain vowel sounds, trigger some sort of generational memory, ingrained in our neurology from centuries or millennia ago.

Or if those syllables, tones, or vowel sounds actually do vibrate the field of quantum chaos that flows through everything in a unique way to produce these results.

Or, if some sounds actually are sacred, and tied to the divine.

Perhaps all three are true.
