Two moods:

• I wish some of you had those thoughts always and forever, irrespective of who’s in charge of the U.S. empire, please

I wasn’t on fedi in 2016, and I still intended to have a career in mechanical engineering around that time, so I didn’t know enough people in the technology field to know how was the discourse back then. But Trump’s second term is making it crystal clear to me — more than ever — that white Americans and Europeans either struggle to understand or willfully ignore the power structures within technology until it affects _them_.

I once again beg you to understand that your tech doesn't exist in a vacuum.

Após ser contatada pelo projeto GNOME (do ambiente desktop open source) sobre a duplicidade, a empresa continuou tentando o registro, mas desistiu após o fato ser noticiado.

Para quem conhece bem São Paulo: quais são os lugares (restaurantes, padarias, etc.) que vocês conhecem que são muito bons em acomodar pessoas com alergias ou restrições alimentares? (e.g. costumam listar todos os ingredientes usados, costumam responder todas as perguntas em detalhes)

Os alertas de conteúdo sensível do filme: cenas que mostram ou relatam violência doméstica e estupro (incluindo relatos dos dois na infância), assassinato, brigas com violência física, incesto, abuso de drogas lícitas e ilícitas (e.g. cocaína), nudez (incluindo cenas mostrando trabalho sexual de menores).

Vou usar o #TerCinema sobre trens como desculpa para recomendar Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992). Os carros de um trem são elemento-chave na obra por ser o local onde Laura Palmer foi assassinada.

Muitos fãs da série rejeitaram o filme por ter um tom diferente do da série; eu, por outro lado, defendo que esse tom sombrio eleva a história. Assista após assistir às duas temporadas originais de Twin Peaks (1990-1991).

We have the chance to create our own models of interaction and community — emphasis in "our own". Why not use that to create something new and spectacular, rather than just copying others? We have the potential to be much more imaginative than that, I think.

we had the means for decentralized account recommendation in mastodon years and years ago. you could feature other accounts on your profile. like a blog roll.

of course, I think it's been completely eliminated from the actual profile page anymore.

and we've had folks - curators - maintaining a few different directories of folk who wanted to be found associated with the topics they wanted to be found under for many many years as well.

fuck if I understand why we feel compelled to chase someone else's marketingspeak at every opportunity.

My favorite thing in the world is finding something I think will be perfect for someone, sharing it with them, and hearing a "heck yeah, that's exactly what I was looking for". <3

I was aware of Twin Peaks since my adolescence, but I’m glad I only watched both seasons and the movie now. Not that I think my younger self wouldn’t have the means to understand it; it’s just that I feel more capable to digest it and enjoy it for what it is without necessarily opening old wounds.

I loved it. It may be my favorite David Lynch movie (so far).

I welcomed that tonal shift. Sometimes it felt like the more humorous tone of the TV show downplayed the horrors of what happened in Twin Peaks. I loved how every character became much more morally ambiguous in the movie; they’re more human here.

As hard as it was to watch Laura Palmer’s abuse — I’m a domestic violence survivor myself —, I also felt seen. So much of it felt extremely real to me.

AI ruined so many things. My favorite emoji (✨) is just one more item to add to that list.

I’m much much much better at this nowadays, but wanted to share this anyway: one of my major struggles while communicating with other people is that I’m extremely good at intuitively understanding things from a systemic viewpoint, but that’s not the case for every person I interact with. More often than not, other people will have a “reduced” viewpoint of the subject matter and they struggle to see the systems and their interconnections I see almost immediately.
