"As one study found, well-fitted N95 respirators are 75 times more effective than surgical masks when both an infectious person and a susceptible person wear them."

Ook mag hard op gezegd worden dat Covid geen griepje is.
"Of course, evidence clearly shows COVID is nothing like a cold, particularly for hospital patients who are at higher risk of severe illness and death. .. more than one in 10 confirmed or suspected to have died as a result of their infection. "

My opinion too. I don't mind wearing a respirator mask when going into the supermarket, the pharmacy, public transportation or the hairdressers.
Work from home is good for the environment and should be encouraged, I think.

I would also like the have the autonomy about whether I get exposed to a virus that causes heart disease, neurological conditions or diabetes.
Unfortunately that means I cannot seek dental care at the moment, because others do not respect my bodily autonomy.

Based on wastewater measurements around 40% of the Dutch population had Covid during between October and now.
The media may have stopped talking about Covid, but that does not mean that it has gone away or no longer causes long term health complications.

The problem is that it is everywhere. There is no country that seems to care about their citizens' health. And everywhere people simply accept that their health is being damaged. For what? Parties. Holidays. Festivals.

I am also wondering what sets apart people who are able to resist this drive towards accepting all the deaths and disability. I thought it might be neurodivergence. It clearly is not the group who care about other things such as the climate or volunteering work.

Yes, I see a lot of people who do not seem to mind killing others with their risky behaviour, because they had "underlying conditions" anyway. Obviously they themselves have perfect genes and exercise enough to never be in that category.

Maybe things are different in the US (although I see images of people living in their cars or in tents), but in Europe more and more people struggle to pay their bills and rely on food banks.

I think there are quite a few people who can afford less than they are used to.
This raises questions of what are basic needs. Food, housing and heating obviously are.
But is going on a holiday every year a basic need? Being able to smoke? Have a subscription to Netflix? Presents around Christmas? Dining in restaurants? Have a pet?
Especially the holiday causes a lot of discussion where I am. I think you can argue that you need time off work every year, but travel?

Why do I hear so much about people struggling? Your statistic seems to suggest that there is actually no problem.

And wealth has accumulated with a very small group of people.
This was also true in the past, so you could argue we only have a population problem.
But if we distributed wealth more evenly, there would be much less of an issue.

Even the employer seems to think that it is part of running a business these days that your team may be off sick for a week or so every half a year.

In the Netherlands this is normal now.
First, you get into way too crowded trains where many people are coughing and no one is wearing a mask to get to the workplace.
At the workplace, people come in sick, because this is what we did before Covid, and no one is wearing a mask either.
And everyone is calling it a "flu" or "a cold". And if someone develops long Covid, it is called "burn-out".
While quite a bit of the work could be done from home.
