    @Alphakilopapa @alex there needs to be SOMETHING to pass on technical knowledge to the next gen. And no, "learning on the job" is not an option for a lot of fields. There's an entire infrastructure required. That's even true for software engineering since there's a ton of topics that simply never come up in the normal course of business, but you still need to implicitly know them if you want to be anything more than a code monkey.

    However, I agree that the current form of college is not it.

    @Alphakilopapa @alex college on the whole isnt as much of a scam as the degrees they offer. 90% of them are wholly worthless. College should be reserved for technical fields (which can include some kinds of technical art).

    The truth is that 90% of students that go to college choose to get piss easy degrees that just burn money. The catch is that they and their parents aren't really in a position to know any better.

    So I guess the way to say it is that 90% of college is a scam.
