@poofbirb @Gargron in seriousness though, hardly any social platforms facilitate shortform audio. For all the accessibility focus of Mastodon, enabling audio content would be fantastic.

That said we’d need to be mindful of server storage implications & probably automatically compress the audio, which is further server load ?

@mattl same. Absurdly good value. 5 year support, likely still totally usable another 2 years on top of that. Unlike most Android options I can easily access (albeit overpriced, but affordable) official (safe, not explody) battery replacements. Packing flagship CPU power. Lowest total cost of ownership.

Picked up an immaculate condition 128GB SE 2020 for my wife a couple of weeks ago for £120. Incredible. Even at 85% battery capacity no option beats that.

Any new platform has a learning curve, but onboarding could certainly be easier here.

Still, there’s some high profile accounts that offer a great deal of guidance & increasingly I’m seeing Joe Public see enough noise to push through to see what it’s all about.

I’m sure it’ll get better when the Mastodon team have a chance to address it and aren’t busy fielding media requests & putting out server fires ?
