Every single time someone watches me type on a computer
It’s starting to feel like Threads isn’t integrating ActivtyPub in good faith. Besides no new fediverse features in many months, now they’re popping up this message which will likely discourage many users from keeping it on. And if they’re influencing people to turn it off, they could then say the data suggests people aren’t interested in the feature.
Joanna Maciejewska with the best take.

@mike they’ve had that since it launched. And interesting times ahead, indeed. I can’t wait until they finally follow through on that.
@feld I suppose that's a good reason to. They can definitely seem menacing. They've only bothered me when mowing the lawn, and it is unnerving.
My biggest issue with wasps and bees has been with carpenter bees. For a couple months out of the year I can't run on the trail near my home without them attacking my head and following me everywhere.
@feld but why? They’re not harmful to humans and are an important part of the food chain.
If the cicada killing wasps also appear in force during the double brood emergence, it’s gonna be quite an event. Many of them are burrowed around my home, and while harmless to humans, they look menacing when they fly near you.
Speaking of which, they catch and paralyze cicadas, put them in the ground and inject an egg into them, all while alive. You can figure out the rest. Just another example of how hard core nature can be.

This is your algorithm. If you don't want to miss posts from someone, turn this on.
This keynote by @anildash resonates and is inspirational.
We assembled a cat-butt birdhouse for my dad's birthday.
Fixed it: “Taken without permission from creators, processed and created by AI for profit and without attribution, and then edited by humans for profit with attribution given to AI.”
@elac I'm not sure if @aral coined the phrase "small web" but that's who comes to mind when I think of it.
News media should be embarrassed to use this logo. I still long for the day when we can move to use the username and server they're on fediverse style. I'm still hoping that Meta will add ActivityPub, which will be the catalyst needed to change the paradigm away from whatever Twitter has become.
Normalize this
THIS is the best take on Threads and the fediverse’s reaction to Threads. Those previous times I said “best take” are void and have been cancelled.

Check out this best worst thing I found. It is my UX nightmare but also fun to play.
The randomness of @Mastodon is great, but the trick for better engagement with some of the people you follow is to turn on notifications. That helps make up for not having an algorithm.
