All of the characters are lovely and Ms Cunningham is one of the most awesome, loving and independent cartoon mothers and I want to tell her how wonderful and strong she is!

Erm... I'm digressing...I mean...Tailspin is really good. 😁

(It's still totally crazy how someone had the idea to use Jungle Book characters for something totally different like this. 😁)

At some point I'll start watching "The Amazing World of Gumball", despite its, well, unusual style, and the fan-artists who draw the huge amount of Nicole Watterson fanart will be to blame for it!

@Fragglemuppet In addition to some things already said, waking up from deep sleep, usually from an alarm, always feels bad.

That's why those smart alert apps and such check which sleeping state you're in (checking your body movements either with the phones accelerometer or sound), and wake you when you're in a less deep sleep state.

Oh, PeerTube (an open, self-hostable, decentralized video platform) is still accepting crowdfunding donations for their mobile app, and sadly is still missing quite a bit:

I'd love for it to become more popular. To me, personally, the lack of a mobile, but especially an AndroidTV app that can follow submissions on multiple instances, was always kinda a dealbreaker for me to use it regularly.

BUT I love the project and want it to succeed so we have a better YouTube alternative!

So, maybe you can also chip in, or just spread the word that it exists. ❤️

@Fragglemuppet Mhh, not one especially, although everything felt much faster from 30 or so on. (I'm nearly 39 now.)

My biggest fear about that right now is the "I'll never be able to do x now, it's too late!", situation, which most likely is humbug, but it feels like it.

But well... occasionally, when I eat cereals in the morning, watch Darkwing Duck episodes and read comics, it shows I still have the freedom to do some of those things and don't have to give up on most of them just because of age.

And that kinda helps me a bit. 🙂

Aww, I'm re-watching "Darkwing Duck" episodes, in English for the first time, and I forgot that Gosalyn calls Darkwing "Dad" several times, even in the first few episodes already. (original order) ♥️

I thought it was just "Darkwing" most of the time.

Talking about groceries, though:

I like to try unusual drinks, like, baaaaack then aloe vera drink and such.

Today I found something called:
"Ciao - The Beanless Coffee" which...is what it says, basically.

A coffee-like drink, but only made from European ingredients, no actual coffee beans.

Instead they use the "common chicory" (Cichorium intybus, not Cichorium endivia), oat, barley, rye, dandelion root and fava beans.

So... let's give that a try.

Funfact:

Vegan milk alternatives are not allowed to be called "milk", but it seems calling something coffee that does not contain coffee is fine.

Fuck the milk lobby!

@Fragglemuppet Yeah, especially as I've seen how thick printed, for example, Harry Potter book in Braille are, I can kinda understand that. 😄

Ah well, for now I'll stick to creating captions/subtitles for cartoon animation stuff, but maybe as a next endeavor I'll try to write a script for an "audio description" for a show's episode or something, just to see how much work it is.

(Just the text writing, though, my voice isn't nice enough for that.^^)

@Fragglemuppet all this accessibility stuff is a really fun and interesting field, and while it's kinda depressing it's still so limited and not cared for, the last few years have been better, at least when it comes to video games, I think.

And at least here on Mastodon far more people write alt-text, that's also nice.

Erm, with Latin letters, I mean.
Languages using completely different ones like that, I can understand the Braille is different, of course!

Maybe I should just learn it in English as, you know, universal language like written English.

That's also what I considered for sign languages, but in that area, there are even different English sign languages, soo, yeah, I won't be able to learn that in my life anymore. 😄

@Fragglemuppet That said: It's a pity Braille stuff is so expensive, like, I'd love to be able to print stuff in Braille. But the actual, electronic printers are so limited in numbers and so damn expensive.

One would think with how many low-vision or blind people there are, these things would at some point become a bit more mass-market accepted.

But I guess in the age of computers it shifts more towards screenreaders than printed stuff.

@Fragglemuppet I mean, at least numbers and letters seem to be the same between English and German, but even the period / full stop is different. In German it's just dot 3.

I wish stuff was standardized, of course except letters not existing in other languages. *sighs*

Same with sign languages. I was like "oh, learning sign language would be cool. I wonder if there's a universal one.", NO, of course not, of course German-speaking countries alone have like, two or three, I don't know. *cries*

@Fragglemuppet Oh my, as someone that has no clue and really just tries to get into this because he wants more accessibility in things, this is really confusing to learn, especially with language differences. 😅

@Fragglemuppet I...think so? Translation websites say "Braille board" or "Braille tablet", and some metal pins that you punch into the paper with. :-D

And well, if you reliably know which dots to use for @ in English, especially in e-mail-addresses, feel free to let me know. 😊

The more I encounter it in the last few months, the more I get used to READING it, as in, I accidentally learn more of which Braille is which letter or number if I SEE it. Still far from perfect, though.

As in actually able to use it: No, I can absolutely not feel at which places the points are, my fingers aren't sensitive enough, yet. 😭

But I bought one of those Braille board thingies to punch your own Braille into paper!
