@checkervest Most Americans have never had pumpkin pie. Canned pumpkin is not actually pumpkin. It's winter squash. The food canning industry lobbied congress about 100 years ago to get permission to lie on the label and call it pumpkin. And because it doesn't hurt anyone and a lot of people prefer the flavor, Congress shrugged and said "yeah, okay"

I will however never forget when I was working as a bank teller and we had an Asian gentlemen in the lobby who was relatively new to the country, hadn't been here long. It started snowing in big, fat Hollywood flakes, and he stood at the window, transfixed. He was in his 30s and never seen the snow before. I got to watch him watch his first snow. It felt like a holy moment.
