I enjoyed watching Exorcist: Believer for much the same reason I enjoy horror movies and series that portrays community--Midnight Mass, Chapelwaite, and more. Exorcist: Believer went wonderfully rogue in terms of upending the typical appointed "exorcist" priest and brought in a crowd. And I learned that two demon-possessed children really work for a nice twist, girls who are close friends.
Did you ever spend time on a college campus over the holidays, a situation sort of like the movie The Holdovers though not quite as much fun in the end. (A knowledge of the film is not required to answer.) The situation may have been that your parents couldn't afford to fly you home or you didn't have a car or a ride. Or maybe your family was just weird and neglectful. I am working on a horror story based on this, but it's not extreme. Still, it is a situation I can relate to, and it is not fun.
Have you ever had a priest suggest that your depression was demonic oppression requiring an exorcism. Yeah, I have. Scared and locked in a conservative marriage, I still managed to escape this. Looking back, I can't imagine...🖤
