I'm not mad at anyone, but I don't know how to deal with the nihilism. It's not an emotional/mental state I experience in the face of fascism or I wouldn't be able to study all this awful shit like I do. I'm writing about this stuff because history tells me, and I have to believe, eventually the fascists lose and we don't all die. If I didn't believe that, it'd be like I'm just constantly sharing the worst shit in the world with everyone around me so we can all feel terrible until they kill us

"The Dems won't do anything/probably like this expansion of power" - Dems are already demanding resignations; there was a Senate hearing THIS morning.

"The media won't care" - corporate media has been running stories on this non stop for bordering on 48 hours in a way they haven't talked about almost anything else Trump has done.

"The regime won't care" - the regime has already sent out the President, the Sec of Defense, the director of national intelligence and every media muppet they own to try and make this go away; they are not acting like they don't care.

"Trump already broke laws" yes except he's targeting things the establishment doesn't care enough about to make a 24 hour endless scandal; they care about this. We're not disagreeing that these people are amoral shitlords, but THIS motivates them to start fighting

"Nobody is going to arrest Trump" that's probably true. But Trump literally cannot run the entire US government by himself. If everyone who works for him finds themselves vilified in the media, summoned before the Senate, threatened with prosecution and forced to resign, the regime is gonna have a hard time finding people to keep enacting Trump's fascist agenda. Flak is good. Delays are good. Resignations are good. There is no way what is happening here is somehow BAD for ppl who hate fascism.

I didn't tell you 'this is the scandal that takes the Trump regime down" - but if that's what you're waiting for let me assure you it's not coming and you need a better plan.

In the meantime it's absolutely a good thing that the fascist regime just got caught openly breaking the laws and now have to answer questions about it in public; questions they are ABSOLUTELY FAILING to credibly answer and making themselves look worse every time they try.

If you don't care? Cool. But this is real.

Folks; I can't predict the future, but either this government is absolutely going for it or they aren't. If they're going to keep pretending everything they're doing is legal, it matters that their Warmonger group chat is illegal. If they're going to shout "I AM THE LAW" and go full Ancient Regime? Then it matters that people understand that so they stop waiting on the courts to stop them.

Resignations and replacements take time. Senate hearings expose the regime. Media flak forces responses.

I can assure you, the Trump regime cares VERY MUCH about making this go away.

Gabbard is already lying on the Senate floor, saying "there was no classified information on the group chat." Trump is pretending he only heard about this scandal today. Hegseth is giving interviews calling Goldberg a hoaxer and avoiding questions. Fox is trying to frame this as like when you and your buddies do a group chat.

The Pork Reich is scared of this. Way more than the deportation flights even.

If you can't hold them accountable in government because they control it all, and you can't hold them accountable in court because they control the top court in the land, then you're pretty much left with holding them accountable in the court of public opinion. And while you might think that's irrelevant, that's precisely what is happening if millions of people are taking to the street demanding the ouster of a political leader which is afaict the only way we get out of this.

I get what you're saying; they've ALREADY broken the law. But they're doing it to harm people a whole lot Americans do not care about and have been taught to hate for years, decades, even generations. That's fucking awful, but we all know what Amerikkka is, and what it's people are like.

This? Is shit the bipartisan consensus cares about, and isn't just going to let go of because "defending protestors/alleged gang members/trans people is unpopular."

This is a "real" scandal, to the machine.

One thing I'm noticing that people are not understanding, that they really need to understand here:

Trump is not threatening to jail or deport anyone running these big law firms and prestigious universities. He's threatening them with funding cuts, lack of access to federal contracts, and harassment investigations.

So when they agree to collaborate with him, they're saying "there is a monetary cost above which we don't believe in anything and will gladly help install fascism to avoid."

Furthermore, given that all of this has literally no basis in the law, or civil rights, and it's entirely about Trump saying "if you don't help me do fascism, I will slash your profits" there is no mechanism which identifies what degree of collaboration is "enough."

If tomorrow Trump says "either you help me make the case for murdering brown people and taking away the right for women to vote, or I'll cut your funding and deny you contracts" - they're RIGHT back in the crosshairs.

No really, that's happening, that's today's fresh new hell; and I'm not just talking about punishing folks who brought charges against him under Biden either. Trump's plan for the regime to stop losing in court is to destroy any law firm that takes cases against the regime. You don't have to care about the judges if nobody files the cases to stop you.

I'm probably gonna write this up later, but I just wanted to be clear I'm NOT exaggerating mate.

Trump is literally moving to destroy law firms that bring cases against his government's illegal actions because he can't impeach the judges ruling against him and there are seriously folks out here talking about false flags, optics, and why fighting back just means the nazis are gonna beat you harder.
