J.R.R. Tolkien has become a sort of mountain, appearing in all subsequent fantasy in the way that Mt. Fuji appears so often in Japanese prints. Sometimes it’s big and up close. Sometimes it’s a shape on the horizon. Sometimes it’s not there at all, which means that the artist either has made a deliberate decision against the mountain, which is interesting in itself, or is in fact standing on Mt. Fuji.

I finally managed to switch on the #amiga 1200 after three years. The old Commodore 1084 is in the attic now and I am making do with the Sony PVM. A replay of #monkeyisland 2 was long overdue. Looking forward to when in a few years my daughter will play it with me like I did with my mother (and my wife with her dad, around the same time in two different places)

Shrinking is the best show I have watched in ages. Writing is top notch and there are so many human things (emotions, relatable life events, etc.) that draw you in.

I believe it was written by (some of) the authors of Scrubs and Ted Lasso.

@skinnylatte @monkeyninja a close family member has been recently diagnosed with Graves'. It has been a few hard years for her, with thyroid behaving erratically, sometimes hyper and sometimes ipo. Now that it's being treated things are better

@skinnylatte my sister in law is Japanese but grew up in Italy for 10 years or so. Her and my brother cook pretty much like that. When I called him the other day he was making beef straccetti with miso and rocket

@skinnylatte one thing that makes me always smile about "ramen purists" is that in Japan it's generally considered a Chinese dish.

(You surely know this better than me and I am not replyguying, btw.)

Even the name ラーメン is a translitteration in katakana of lāmian 拉面, and traditional ramen restaurants in Japan are clearly Chinese themed.

Your post made me think I would like to see some fusion on the same lines with Mediterranean ingredients
