Rebecca Solnit all over again, having an idiot male explain her book to her. He didn’t realize she was the author and she kept telling him “I am the author and that is not what that means” but he could not listen or hear.

“Nearly half of the world’s largest downstream rivers— 44% — saw a drop in the amount of water flowing through them each year, according to the research published Thursday in the journal Science.”

My elder kid is an openly trans naval officer who teaches at the academy.

They’re 41, badass, an Olmsted Scholar…and I am fierce about them.

And yet I know I can only imagine how military parents of trans kids denied their care must be feeling. This kind of trauma can be paralyzing so we civilians must bombard our congress with letters demanding they stop caving to peer pressure and give a damn.

I’m going to confer with my kid this weekend.

CDC was a mess long before COVID.

They refuse to allow for testing people with penises for HPV and insist they can’t be tested for it when in fact it is much easier to test them than testing people with uteruses. Testing was done for HPV vaccine trials!

And now the HPV vaccines are a huge success but there is a whole generation of humans who can’t get their partners with penises tested and have to play Russian roulette to be sexually active thanks to CDC.

It’s deadly.

Science* isn’t something you “believe” in.

Science is something you think in.

There is a huge difference between belief and knowledge.

*Science is answering questions by measuring observations in a manner that is repeatable.

My son and I made the spookiest jack-o-lanterns we could design.

I consumed raw goat milk for a few weeks many years ago to help gain weight but it was from a friend’s tiny cheese operation and she had incredible sterile technique and a few well tended goats.

There is no way I’d drink from unknown animals but I grew up on a tiny farm and know better. I don’t consume any dairy, now.

I resent that FDA are not monitoring/controlling the raw milk industry in this era of cross species pathogens. 😳

We’re being setup for contagious Darwin Awards.
