    fwiw, I hate the aesthetic of Halloween... And Christmas, though not as much. I just find it ugly, especially the commercialist focus.
    I especially don't care for the "look I put a santa hat/pumpkin/bunny/whatever holidy symbol in my avatar/nick" trend, it's just boring. Easy way to mute half of poast and most of ncd.

    Apparently betterbird doesn't follow thunderbird version numbering so accidentally opening thunderbird once over a betterbird config will permanently fuck betterbird's ability to access it.

    Fuck it, I'm gonna find the version number it's looking at and change it, and see if anything breaks.

    @Clippy My take on dual-booting is that you can't serve two masters, you will love one and hate the other, or despise one and love the other. Every day that you don't boot an OS is a day more of shit to deal with when you next do boot it, especially Windows.

    Well, these days I don't update my system for like half a year or more so there's nothing to bother me on boot, but it's the same damn base problem: Generally system update means kernel update, kernel update means restart, but I want to update AUR stuff before the restart, just to save headaches, and AUR stuff is generally a headache, especially due to the amount of shit that's been removed from there that I still use frequently. (At some point I need to just set up my own local repository to point at for those things + the handful of stuff I actually wrote PKGBUILDs for.)

    Ok dumb compression concept: Hash-breaking. Replace every 32 bytes with 8 bytes of hash, 'decompressing' is simply brute-forcing a match. Consistent 75% compression ratio but really slow decompression, and you'd need to be able to tell the decompressor to retry a failed attempt, maybe have it store the hash of each file so it can at least guess where it went wrong (other than "everywhere"), though that can easily tank the ratio.
