@jwo NGL, as a decades-long user of #Emacs I loathe long bindings. It’s a big driver for why I wrote Casual. https://github.com/kickingvegas/casual
Yep, I'm done with Meta.
Tomorrow, annual #sanfrancisco MLK march. Meet at the SF Caltrain station on 4th. March starts at 11am. See you there! https://norcalmlkfoundation.org/mlkcelebration/mlk2025/2025-mlk-march/
I wish Transit built a macOS native app with widget support.

Has anybody written something akin to "Modern Elisp: The Good Parts" or "Elisp for Python Programmers"? If not, perhaps somebody should…
#Emacs
These three links have informed a lot of my thinking of late on writing Elisp, which I am admittedly novice at. The quoted paragraph in the first link on the chaos of using a map-style (key, value) collection is especially resonant to me. I personally don't care to please old Elisp heads who say we should only use builtins. I want to use conventional abstractions that are shared among the languages I know like Python, Swift, JavaScript, and Java.

Different Emacs modes prefer different movement. I share some thoughts on this, particularly with regards to minibuffer movement.

Casual v2.2.5 update now available on MELPA. Adds support for text reformatting commands (fill, center, repunctuate), common editor settings, and changes the % key in the Calc main menu to do the sensible thing and compute a percentage. More info at the link attached.
@screwtape tuned in!
My EmacsConf 2024 talk, “Re-imagining the Emacs User Experience with Casual Suite” is now available online. Stream it here: https://emacsconf.org/2024/talks/casual/
@skinnylatte Fair. I’d note that many places only specialize in one dish back there.
@skinnylatte you really feel like instigating tonight, don't you?
Nice shout out from Irreal. Hope my #EmacsConf talk on Casual this Saturday doesn't disappoint!
#Emacs definitely has that "we found this derelict spaceship and somehow we got it to fly" energy.
