i made mastodon for the nintendo 3ds :3c

im not a fan of the name Catodon (the new firefish fork) bc it implies its based on mastodon which it isnt. which seems bad especially when we are struggling with making the difference between mastodon and the fediverse clear to normal people

in ~2009 ppl were hacking the iPod nano (3rd/4th generation) and the circumstances of the bug that was found meant they had to bruteforce for a jump address to get code execution. the bruteforcing process involved pressing buttons to get it to reboot so they built fucking ROBOTS out of lego and motors and servos and stuff to automate the process and its literally the coolest thing EVER!!!

message to all reverse engineers and hackers of fedi: when youre figuring out some really obscure thing and you finally crack it PLEASE document it somewhere on the web. maybe youre the first to ever walk this path, maybe youre the first person to care. but i promise you are not the last, and there will be a day when some lone hacker follows the path you took years or decades ago and they will find what you wrote and they will be eternally grateful and wont forget it ever. and thats so beautiful
