I agree that the wording could have been better but @dansup isn't a lawyer and I'm guessing went very generic for the first iteration (without legal assistance in writing).

@dansup I think it's clear that we need to be able to fund content creators if we want quality original content. It would also fill a gap in places like Canada, where creators don't have access to the Tiktok creator fund and must rely on partnerships with businesses. This has downsides both for the audience and the content creator. When you're paid in physical goods that you wouldn't be able to afford, you must consider a marginal tax rate, which... you also can't afford.

@dansup oh I'm guilty of doing that and I think it's because the pop up message was small and low on the screen, and disappeared before I could even read it. It was grey, too, which in my mind suggested an error message. I couldn't see anything like a square with some mention like "uploading", similar to when you upload to YouTube. That kind of confirmed my suspicions. After a while, I just figured I needed to reupload and that's only when I saw that the first video had been uploaded.

@dansup I agree that monetization will be crucial in the expansion of loops. I thought that it'd be a somewhat seamless transition from Mastodon to PeerTube because of modern editing software (my film editing experience dated back from the early 2000s). Boyyyy was I wrong. It still takes hours to edit a 5-minute long video. And that's not accounting for all the training I need to do with Moxxi before filming (that's enrichment so it pays for itself in intact furniture and happy neighbors).

The bottom half of my windows is constantly dirty now and this is why. Worth it.

Awww Moxxi started hanging around the Christmas tree. I thought it was weird because she doesn't typically spend time in that area.

As we're wrapping up what is the first full year on #Mastodon for a lot of us, I can't help but think of those big accounts that came over here from #Twitter and left complaining that their posts didn't make the rounds. They never used any #hashtag, they never interacted with anyone, and they expected a standing ovation for every stream of consciousness they posted. Perhaps #Threads will bring them back again but either way, let's keep hyping each other up in 2024 #HappyNewYear2024
