@GustavinoBevilacqua @HG @Binder Yeah, but try finding one with a teller. Usually, I have to use a machine on the street.
Wait—SPERM bank! I get it now! THAT explains the restraining order!

@RickiTarr I can't help but think Mark Twain would spend a LOT of time watching cat videos.
“What follows is a step-by-step account of how #Hitler systematically disabled and then dismantled his country’s democratic structures and processes in less than two months’ time—specifically, one month, three weeks, two days, eight hours, and 40 minutes.”

Video of the reconstruction is at https://news.sky.com/story/king-richard-iii-given-yorkshire-accent-using-state-of-the-art-technology-13255791. I do wonder, though, that he’s a tad too intelligible to be speaking 15th-century English. #RichardIII #history #science #linguistics https://halo.nu/@theguardian_science/113501027799875690
@RickiTarr We sold our house 7-8 months ago and bought a (secondhand) SUV and caravan. My wife, my cat, and I are travelling Australia—we’re about 6 weeks into a 12-month stint in Tasmania, then we’ll head back to the mainland.
Pros: It really is a beautiful place, if a bit unforgiving. If you get sick of one spot, move onto the next. (Also, you don’t realise how stressful owning/renting a house is till you don’t have one.) (1/4)
@strypey @ixi After COVID lockdowns lifted, my wife and I ventured into Brisbane for a day out on the ferry. Like most Australians at the time we’d spent weeks or months discouraged from handling cash. (I still rarely carry it.)
Shortly after we debarked, a homeless man asked us for change. I watched him beg dozens of people as we waited for a bus, none of whom had anything to give. It was heartbreaking.
He couldn’t choose to exclude himself from the cash economy.
