@tino76H @layered Most users involved with open source for some reasons hate when people nagging them to donate, like many are outspoken about hating #Wikipedia and #InternetArchive (is in financial trouble due to legal issues) nagging them to donate. Even when #KDE added feature to do that just once a year and can be disabled, it's still controversial enough. Also most users tend to conflate between #OpenSource / #FreeSoftware (free as in freedom) with #Freeware so this does not help as well

@rutte Even if your account is parody, some nasty admins here do make up reasons to accuse other instance admins for things they don't do

@rutte I don't like #fediblock for things like that tho, especially when harassment towards staffs is very serious if real

@clacke @rgegriff @khinsen
Given that #Mastodon had had critical vulnerabilities until Mozilla started to investigate (other popular platforms such as #Misskey, #Peertube, #Lemmy aren't even being investigated of security and audited by independent trustworthy third-party), and the fact that Mastodon and its fork have far more Fediverse-enabled users than other non-Threads (not sure about this), non-Flipboard #Fediverse platforms, they are still a valuable targets for government agencies. -

There are lots of instances proactively blocking bad instances (hate speech, racism, spam,...) which is good but sometimes they overdo it by blocking instances just because of some minor, redeemable mistakes from their admins or users; or because of incompatible views despite they haven't done anything wrong.
Sometimes they even do the point that can be considered harassment towards that admin/mod/user as well.
Mastodon convenent should be updated now.
