The EU initiative Going Dark has now been launched by the EU Commission. They call it ProtectEU.

It’s a rebranding of Chat Control. New name. Same old propaganda.

The EU Commission’s goal is to “access encrypted data in a lawful manner, safeguarding cybersecurity and fundamental rights.”

To the Swedish and French governments, and to all politicians who believe that they can stop data from ending up in the wrong hands with rules and restrictions: don’t be naive.

The Swedish and French governments are following in the footsteps of the FBI and want to demand backdoors in end-to-end encrypted messaging services like @signalapp as @Mer__edith said in the Swedish news:

"There is no such thing as a backdoor that only the good guys can access.”

Freedom of speech is not an isolated right. We hit the streets to highlight the rights we need to fight for, not only to protect freedom of speech, but to protect our right to be free humans.

The Belgian version of chat control is nothing but mass surveillance. It’s what the Going Dark initiative call “setting the right narrative”. But the consequences are the same. It’s client-side scanning (state spyware in your phone) of European citizens’ private communication.

Chat control is a corrupt proposal pushed forward through undemocratic methods. The Belgian version is no different. The European Council should follow the European Parliament’s lead and reject it

WireGuard over TCP has been re-enabled on some servers in Gothenburg, Malmö, Oslo, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, London, and Vienna.

Please note that WireGuard over TCP is not a feature for anything other than bypassing UDP blocks. It comes with higher resource and battery usage, as well as a significant performance reduction.

The proposed EU law Chat Control will not only create a centralized mass surveillance system and violate people's privacy. It will also ban open source operating systems as an unintended consequence.

If and when this law goes into effect it would make illegal the open source software services underpinning the majority of services and infrastructure on the internet.
