Associations of Home Owners with legal covenants set up in US suburbs like Levittown that were ostensibly to help maintain property values by setting guidelines for how often the lawn needed to be mowed and impose little fees and impose leins for not fixing issues and broken down cars in driveways and whatnot...

... but really were just used to keep Brown/Black People out of Suburbs that white people were flying to during white flight.

Now lots of (mostly white admined) fediverse instances are upset because Black instance admins and allies are basically going "if you do not answer these sorts of reports of racism coming from your instance, you will be put on a list with examples of the trash you allow to spread we and a lot of other instances will defederate from you".

Also, unfortunately, a LOT of the instances that are getting dinged and defederated-from and Real Mad About It are some of the bigger queer-tech instances. There is a real insidious attitude of "I can't be racist; I'm queer!" That leads to instance admins and mods of some rather large servers taking criticism as slander/libel.. so rather than improve or adjust, they sort of just go "welp, nothing to be done" and make with the name-calling and assuring themselves that nothing of value is on the instances that defederated from them anyways.

@silvereagle What is your take on Vivaldi? It seems like it's the least shitty Chromium Port, but I am not sure if that means I can daily-drive it or whether that's just the flavor of chromium I keep as a backup in case firefox is broken on some website I need to use for some crucial function (and fill the bug report that the website doesn't work on non-chromium browsers)

@blogdiva Hell, Mitch McConnell basically thinks that if you don't have enough money you shouldn't be able to vote or have your grievances heard... and pretty much spent his entire political career trying to make it so that bigger businesses with more cash on hand got a bigger say in what happened in the us... the worst day of his career/life was when McCain/Feingold got passed, and the best was when he got McCain/Feingold gutted and then got to watch McCain die.

He's an awful terrible ghoul of a man and it's fitting that he looks like one. We need to show pics of McConnell to little kids throwing tantrums and go "if you keep trying to get your way all the time you're gonna look like THIS!"
