@Zumbador this mindset can also be good when asking for accommodations while not officially diagnosed (or unwilling to disclose a diagnosis): "I am sensitive to noise, that's why I wear headphones", "big crowds are exhausting to me, that why I need downtime afterwards".

Dear teachers,

Please STOP IT with the "all girls sing this part, all boys sing that part of the song".

You have trans and nonbinary kids in your classes. Yes, you really do. Not all of them want to be out to you or their classmates. Not all of them feel comfortable with just picking a category at random; not all of them feel comfortable with just being quiet.

And they shouldn't have to.

Just find better categories. PLEASE.

- Holocaust survivors making it to old age, some living to be 100 years old. Despite all efforts, these lives went on; despite all efforts, these people told their stories; despite all efforts, they made others learn and think and fight.

Random parenting musings.

Saw a post about the negative sides of parenting and how one should talk about them, and had mixed feelings.

On the one hand: yes! A lot of talk about being a parent is romanticized or takes the form of "just apply this recipe™ and everything will be easy!"

But on the other hand, I was like, I meet quite a lot of parents who *only* talk negatively about being a parent.

So how can there be simultaneously not enough and too much negative talk around parenting?

Ich bin keine Frau, mag deshalb den Hashtag #FrauenAlltag nicht für mich benutzen (auch wenn es auch mein Alltag als oft weiblich gelesene Person ist).

Aber ich kann über Erlebnisse, die ich mitbekomme, schreiben und über meine unter #FlintaAlltag.

In loser Folge also Alltagssexismus, vor allem aus dem Hochschulsystem und Elternsein, weil das mein Alltag ist. Sollte ich über Belästigung schreiben (weiß noch nicht, ob ich will), setze ich eine CN.

Die Masterstudentin, die den Vorlesungssaal betritt, in der ihre Maschinenbau-Vorlesung stattfindet, und vom Professor mit "Sie haben sich verlaufen, die Soziale Arbeit ist nebenan" begrüßt wird.

(Die Gleichstellungsbeauftragte wurde eingeschaltet, Konsequenzen gab es aber nicht.)

Die Kita-Leitung, die über die Mutter eines Kindes lästert: "Jetzt ist das neue Baby noch nicht mal ein Jahr und die geht wieder arbeiten. Kinder rausdrücken und abschieben, so macht die das."

Die unzähligen Väter von Kindern unter einem Jahr, die erwerbsarbeiten gehen, werden nicht kommentiert.
