I came up with the word "Groyper" as an online handle in early 2015. It started on /r9k/ when I made a thread where I started trolling women on reddit's dating subreddit. I simply wanted to make a name that sounded very trollish, like a gremlin/virus. So I randomly came up with the name. Anyway, many laughs were had. But I stopped using the name after that.
Then, I was on twitter in 2016 as a random wojak poster. Eventually, I was banned, and when I came back, I decided to dust off the "Groyper" handle and use Easter Toad as my avi. People were really intrigued by my name and it stuck as my online identity. In 2017, my account picked up steam on twitter, and one of my friends on there rebranded as @Professor_Groyper as a joke, but it stuck for him too, and he became a known account.
Eventually, by the end of 2017, it exploded in popularity and you saw different types of groypers everywhere. 2017 was a huge year for us, I was getting millions of twitter impressions every month. It was around this time I became mutuals with Nick on twitter, we didn't talk much but were friendly towards each other.
Fast-forward a bit and Nick has become very popular. A lot of his fans were also groypers, and he'd joke that he was being groyped and groypers were harassing him. Eventually, when trolling Charlie Kirk, he decided to use the "Groyper Army" thing, which I actually didn't mind. I supported the whole thing because I thought it was funny and wasn't trying to "protect" the word or anything.
Then I noticed Nick randomly unfollowed me on twitter around this time and clearly wanted to distance himself from me and my friends (the people that made all the funny groyper memes). I joked about this, he took it personal and blocked me, and his followers instantly became hostile towards us. I didn't play into the drama, but did not appreciate him rebranding "groyper" to mean anyone who pledged loyalty to him, and I thought a lot of the political artwork and memes they spewed were gay and narrow in scope.
Fast-forward to now, and I haven't been paying attention to him or his fanbase and don't care too much. I don't play into the drama and I don't hate someone for being a Nick fan (a lot of Nicker Groypers are friendly to me). But Groyper is my online handle and has been since 2015 really. I came up with the name and it rules. It just sucks that everywhere I go, people act hostile towards me and assume I'm associated with Fuentes.

@graf @Shini_Koroshi @CozyPuPP Only issue I noticed was me posting a hi-res video and it having trouble loading, but IDK enough about how your site does video compression to even address it lmao. Really my fault for not compressing it first since I figured there would be a more aggressive compression automatically. Most lower res vids I've seen load fine. Other than that everything seems smooth, thankful and glad to have this site. -

@Shini_Koroshi @CozyPuPP I really think Torba is focused on new gimmicks with AI and stuff and just sees the social site as dead weight. I feel like this was his way to squeeze money out of nice people that trusted him before the place is folded up entirely.
If he really wanted to save the site with funding, there were 1000 better ways to do it. Better appeals to raise funds, better compromises and rewards, etc. I would have likely stayed there if the ability to post lower res images stayed intact for free users, and I likely would have considered upgrading for the ability to post videos, since that matters to me.
Yet, the site has had bugs and bad functionality now for a couple of years, problems that were never addressed. The way he abruptly announced this and then absolutely SHIT on his users made it pretty clear he just wanted us to leave.
His attitude and deception pissed me off far more than losing my ability to post images. He shit on my friends, some of the nicest and most generous people I've known online, and he basically nuked and shattered entire communities because he's an egotistical faggot. -

@dudebro @CozyPuPP It's definitely in the same vein as that, crypto, NFTs. AI has actual automated applications, but I'm noticing EVERYTHING is being slapped with it as a marketing buzzword now. "Hotdogs, made by AI" or some shit like that. -

I haven't been thinking much about gab in the past day or so, but I just checked out their weird AI site. I honestly never visited it before, and I remember when that url went to the main gab social site. I had not been paying attention to it at all, but going there, I think it's pretty obvious this is Torba's newest venture. He is basically closing down Gab Social or abandoning it and getting people to sign up for "Pro" is just a way to get some money from its users without having to maintain it too much. Cut the free chaff, cut expenses, and focus on the AI thing.
I also haven't been paying too much attention to the "AI" thing, but it seems to be a big business now. It seems like it's the newest buzzword to get people/businesses to sign up for a service. I don't know how good the gab AI is, but if I had to guess, it probably can't compete with actual better AIs anyway. -

@CozyPuPP Yeah I wasn't paying much attention to AI in general because I kind of saw the applications of them and didn't care, but now it's a legitimate selling point for brands in every industry. It's weird, but it seems the common person is attracted to and puts trust in machine learning. -

I had a dream last night that I was wrestling a large red squirrel. We're talking about a foot tall. He was standing on his hind legs and just coming at me and it was presented liked a boss fight. He had 3 hearts in his life meter, which I could see. I had to keep slamming him to the ground to take away the hearts. I was doing this because he had a key I had to obtain.
I got him down to one heart, and then he bit my fingers and started gnawing on them. I slammed him down again and he ran out of hearts. I was expecting to get a key from him, but he just stood up and stared at me. We both seemed confused. Then I woke up. I do not know why I dreamed of this red squirrel. -
