Specifically asking about asymptomatic chicken.

Never mind my yard. Removing that from the OP.

Anybody have info on asymptomatic #H5N1 in chickens?

Got chickens coming into our yard everyday 😐

So this little guy was chilling ☀️ with his eyes closed behind my front tire.

Slow reactions, turns out one eye closed, the other open & a little wet spot on his side.

Probably injured but can't rule out sick so he's gotta go. Daughter caught him with a bowl and tossed him into the woods. Sprayed aqueous ozone where he was resting & bottom of our shoes. I feel ok with this level of safe.

I do wonder about the steam coming up from the sick chicken as you stand above the pan cooking it, and whether the pathogen can survive that and infect you. Slow and low cooking, fast and high... So many different techniques people use. Is one method more risky or safer? Covered in an oven I suppose or an instant pot or similar.

This is concerning.

I don't think anyone has gotten sick much less died from EATING sick chickens...

Luckily it's relatively easy to lock down an island(s). I remember when Hawaii lifted their #Covid lockdown. Made me sad bcuz, well...

Re Ill-equipped: If I remember right, the teenager in BC who had a severe case of #H5N1 got some sort of plasma treatment that requires special equipment that most hospitals have, just not enough to care for lots of ppl during a pandemic

Just because your local hospital has the proper equipment to deal with it, you better be the only one!

That whole no planes bit has always amazed me. And barely automobile too. Travel was slow back then but that flu circled the planet pretty damn fast.
