Drove over to Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore last night to see the #aurora. Looking north, Chicago is off in the distance to the left. I caught my friend’s tripod setup in this shot. The bright golden color at the bottom is light pollution from Chicago picked up on the long exposure. We got there just as Mother Nature put on a dazzling show of reds and purples. The green was quite muted and not really as visible to the naked eye.
I never thought I’d say “popped over to Indiana to see aurora” in my lifetime.
My grandmother had this old medical text from 1920 in her house called “Life, Health, and Vitality” that I took when she passed away. Was flipping through the sections on women’s health and am pretty sure this book informs the GOP’s policy making
I had to create an X account to go yell at someone giving a friend of mine shit about her work. I only followed Gordon Ramsay and my entire feed was Elon. Like, the whole fucking thing. I'd say "what a child" but my kids are less thirsty than this skid mark of humanity
Yesterday while at a friend’s house 9 was asked if he wanted to get anything from Chik-fil-A and he was like “no thank you, I don’t eat Chik-fil-A because they’re mean to gay people.”
So is middle age when you look around at how much others have sucked the soul out of you, perfectly happy to take and take and take from your kindness without much reciprocation and so you burn it all to the ground and move to the woods?
I’m not religious but the Crowdstrike fuckup that grounded major US airlines as all those assholes are trying to leave Milwaukee today feels like the real divine intervention
@TheJen FWIW, we just got quotes on heat pumps with a backup gas furnace install since I'm in Chicago and shit gets cold. We went with a Carrier with variable speed, and a high efficiency furnace and that was $23K. Highest quote we got was $28K with Trane.
Word on the curb is 11 tornadoes touched down in the Chicago area Monday night. Good thing we have NOAA and the NWS to alert around 7 million people of such things. Be a shame if that got privatized…
Staying at our friend’s family farm in northeast Michigan on Lake Huron and there’s a herd of semi-feral cats that live here. One is blind and deaf and his name is Ian. If he calls out the other cats come and help him with whatever situation he’s gotten himself into. This is your wholesome story for today.
