Visited the base of a friend in No Man's Sky #NMS in #VR who has been playing for a number of year years. The depth of the game is slightly overwhelming! This base has everything from greenhouses, generators and storage lockers, and piping to bring raw materials down from the mountainside. And a animated dance floor. And jellyfish bar staff. And he has a freighter full of ships.

Visiting friends in a space setting in this way does really remind me of the book, "Ready Player One"!

We set off to find a new planet to build neighbouring bases in #NMS. No Man's Sky actually generates planets procedurally, giving a near limitless number of permutations. A large number were thus summarily dismissed due to not really feeling the grass colour...

As I'm a newbie with poor equipment and poorer shooting skills (I will note that's a bit of an issue in #VR), my more understandable vote was for a planet low in hazards such as radiation, storms and rampaging sentinels.

Maybe... here!

My No Man's Sky #NMS flying skills in #VR have lacked... something.... a lot.

But. This. Was one hell of a precise landing.

I've built a new base... in a cave. Cool idea? Or terrible? I am slightly annoyed by the lack to flat surfaces to place things nicely. #NMS #VR

In today’s mini Japanese story (listened to for language practice), a woman with two children boards a ferry, along with a samurai. The kids demand candy, but there is only has one sweet 🍬.

The kids are brats and each demands to be given the candy.

The samurai wakes and draws his katana🗡️.

Is the solution to decapitate a child? I thought so.

So did the mother who hides the kids behind her.

But samurai slices the candy in two, solving the issue, although with a disappointing lack of finality.

It’s 10am. And the queues for Christmas Eve KFC chicken have begun. I am not partaking. Because for real, Japan, this is quite strange!

The 3D billboard in Shinjuku, which most famously features a calico cat, now sometimes twins with the regular video billboard next to it 😹

Cat is now in my bathroom and unfortunately, I am quite scratched. This is unusual; I normally escape wound-free. But he sprang forth as I opened the trap and bounced around the bathroom walls and on/off me.

Usually, I open the trap, and the kitty cowers at the back until I'm clear of the bathroom.

NOT TODAY!

Anyway, cat now hiding in carrier (better spot), food & water there if he needs it. Scratches covered in antiseptic, and I'll repeat before I go to bed 🤦

Also, I'll need to give this fellow a name when I take him to the vet tomorrow. He's has tuxedo markings, and I'm open to suggestions!

Default might be "Jess" from Postman Pat. Or "You who appears at 3am, I got your balls now." Could be a bit long in katakana...

#NorahNeko was a horrified witness! But she was also pretty horrified when his boy caterwauled in the early hours. I'm always anxious when stray cats start making a lot of noise, as I worry someone less fond of wild floofs than me will take action. However, once this kit is neutered, he should calm and feel a lot less like fighting.

4am and we have not resigned ourselves to our fate 🤦🏼♀️ After investigating multiple crashes around the bathroom, I put him in a large cat carrier. I thought the smaller space might help him settle, but I think it largely just made the indignation more muffled and me slightly more confident that he wasn’t hurting himself!

We await the dawn…

We have shredded the interior of our carrier, and turned into a thrashing wildebeest when I tried to attach the carrier to a trolley so I could pull it to the station. This is not the face of repentance.

We had to take a taxi.

Possibly I am carrying a werecat. One with refined taste for transport.

Success! Dropped off the kitty at the vet clinic for #TNR plus vaccination and parasite treatment. Picking him up again tomorrow night as it’s a quick snip for boys! ✂️

Named him “Mamoru” based on a suggestion by @bluerehn that his tuxedo colouring made him a dead ringer for Sailor Moon’s Tuxedo Mask (whose real name is Mamoru). Showed the picture to the vet assistant, who laughed a lot 😂

Came home to find #NorahNeko asleep on the bed after our disturbed night! May join her after cleaning the bathroom 😀 #RescueCats

I’ve cleaned the bathroom and trap, laundried the towels, and randomly polished a few other things, including myself. Now summoning energy to visit a friend who is donating their cat cage to me for future… projects 😅

On the plus side, the shower was leaking but having used it again… it’s magically stopped leaking. No one knows why 🤔

I suspect he won’t appear on my balcony again for food for a few days to weeks, but I’ve loaded up the food bowls anyway in case he feels brave. #TNR #RescueCats
