I've built a new base... in a cave. Cool idea? Or terrible? I am slightly annoyed by the lack to flat surfaces to place things nicely. #NMS #VR

But. This. Was one hell of a precise landing.

Elizabeth Tasker (elizabethtasker@mastodon.online)'s status on Sunday, 07-Jan-2024 23:24:47 JST Elizabeth Tasker We set off to find a new planet to build neighbouring bases in #NMS. No Man's Sky actually generates planets procedurally, giving a near limitless number of permutations. A large number were thus summarily dismissed due to not really feeling the grass colour...
As I'm a newbie with poor equipment and poorer shooting skills (I will note that's a bit of an issue in #VR), my more understandable vote was for a planet low in hazards such as radiation, storms and rampaging sentinels.
Maybe... here!

The depth of the game is slightly overwhelming! This base has everything from greenhouses, generators and storage lockers, and piping to bring raw materials down from the mountainside. And a animated dance floor. And jellyfish bar staff. And he has a freighter full of ships.
Visiting friends in a space setting in this way does really remind me of the book, "Ready Player One"!

Elizabeth Tasker (elizabethtasker@mastodon.online)'s status on Sunday, 07-Jan-2024 23:24:50 JST Elizabeth Tasker I've fallen into "No Man's Sky"! I made it to the space station, and have selected an avatar that truly resembles what I look like... on the inside.
I now have a glowing ball for a head, which seems to be held in place by rotating electromagnets. Magnificent!
#NMS was created for PC but the #VR adaption (which I'm playing) is not at all bad. It's really... quite... addictive. I played for 4 hours and I'm eying my battery and wondering if I could hop on for a few minutes... before... bed...
