I'm not sure how wide you're casting your net, but a place like Assen has a 1 hour 45 minute train transit to Amsterdam, and should have slightly more sane housing prices.

It's pretty far outside the Randstad though.

You need something to write with. That's all. The rest is extra.

I've written in pen on notepads, in notes on my phone, in wordprocessors and text editors.

Coffee, quiet, good environments - they all help, but ultimately you need your brain and a writing implement.

At the same time: I hate how actually having the time and headspace to create any type of art (including writing), is becoming a form of privilege.

Making a living off writing is so hard that most people can only do it if they either have a partner that supports them or a job that pays so well that you can afford to take the time off to write.

This means we are missing out on so much potentially brilliant art because the artists are too busy just surviving to create it.

@liztai This is a really good point. I keep having to fight myself not to self-censor.

I keep thinking "people who like my novella might be freaked out by this", but that's just a dead-end road to go down.

Finding definitive proof that we were living in a simulation wasn't so bad. We'd always suspected it was a possibility.

Scientists, religious figures and philosophers had some bitter debates, but apart from that life went on.

That wasn't the worst thing. No. What really got us... what really messed us up good was when someone found out what our simulation was called. Yeah... when we found out that we were living in ShitsAndGiggles.exe...

Thats when all hell broke loose.
