Not everything was perfect. We weren't able to see the reflection of Mount Rainier in the Reflection Lakes, and we had to cross this terrifying bridge to get to Carter Falls. 😂
Our last day at Mt. Rainier National Park so we took a more challenging (for us!) hike up to Rampart Ridge. 4.6 miles with an elevation gain of 1339 feet. They have some very big trees in this part of the world. Our favorite things to come across was two trees of different species growing as one. Today we return east. Our kitties at least will be glad!
Yesterday at Olympic National Park took us to the Hoh Rain Forest, featuring massive trees and lots of mosses and ferns in old growth forest, and then Ruby Beach with its sea stacks and ferocious Pacific Ocean waves.
Edit to add hashtags. Got excited and hit post because my breakfast was just delivered 😂
Yesterday's amusing moment: After hours deep in the park with no cell signal, my phone suddenly pinged that I had a text as we reached Hurricane Ridge. "Welcome to Canada!" my cell provider was telling me. What? ! ? It apparently just caught a whisper of a signal from across the Salish Sea LOL
We took some rainy walks around Lake Quinault, and a quick walk on the beach at the Seashore Conservation Area State Park. Now heading inland to visit Mt. Rainier. Olympic National Park was really amazing - what an incredible privilege to able to see it in person.

Roses are red. Well, some are yellow. Or pink or white. Sometimes even multiple colors! Such diversity! They all smell heavenly - such equality! So just to be inclusive, sending you sweet Valentine wishes - may you find beauty in your life to feed your soul!
@futurebird Not all baby birds have gray down. Red-tailed Hawk hatchlings are pure white, for instance, and are cuter than heck. They get a little dowdy-looking as the contour and flight feathers come in.
It was an unseasonably warm day and the sun came out, too. If it's warm, it's wet this time of year, usually. There were half a dozen sparrows sitting on the lilac bush that pops over the fence from the neighbor's. They were all fluffed up, shaking their wings and twitching their tails in the sun and generally being very cute, even if it seemed a bit odd. And then I noticed water splashes all over the fence and on the ground by the bird bath. I had apparently just missed a very joyful bath time.
