Looking down through trees to the Dungeness Spit stretching off into the ocean from the path down to the shore. We could see the lighthouse from there, but it's just a tiny speck on the horizon in this picture. Waves are crashing on the left of the narrow strip of sand, which was covered with huge driftwood logs. The water on the other side is calm.

Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge was a very special place. It had been close to too hot in Seattle, but the wind off the Pacific was pretty chilly.
