@GottaLaff @emptywheel I suspect 18- and 20-year-old women consistently missed by pollsters are a hell of a lot more motivated this year than the voters who saw people in their own party plot to kidnap their governor. Not to mention the voters who were totally psyched to get Mexico to pay for a border wall to save them from the horrors of occasionally hearing spoken Spanish. A lot of them probably sulking at home, while scared-to-death prospective handmaids turning out in droves. Just a guess.

@mmasnick If you're interested, New Yorker 2017 piece "What Does Tulsi Gabbard Believe" was a fascinating read that includes this about a religious leader she followed, Chris Butler: "Defectors tell stories of children discouraged by Butler from attending secular schools; ... of devotees lying prostrate whenever he entered the room, or adding bits of his nail clippings to their food, or eating spoonfuls of sand that he had walked upon."

@gnutelephony Yeah, I have a friend who's said many times how much she fears that Trump 2.0 who's actually smart and competent is waiting in the wings. Terrifying.

@gnutelephony They need someone who's evil and who's also best positioned to grab the reins of power. That's Trump. So many GOP leaders have made that bargain. And Leo had to be thrilled with Trump's court appointments last time, considering Leo himself handpicked most of them.

@gnutelephony Like most Republican leaders, he doesn't like Trump. And, like most Republican leaders, he knows Trump is their best shot for more packed courts, free rides for billionaires, assault rifles and forced births.

I wonder how Supreme Court Justice Leonard Leo will vote on the leading Republican candidate's eligibility for the ballot.
