    Well, there are a lot of pitfalls in the way that i cannot avoid because i'm a retard. And the fact that my working hours allow for nothing except eating and sleeping.

    It's a grueling uphill battle that i honestly think it's barely worth the effort, specially when i have to weed out all manner of unpleasantness in the process

    I'm a bus driver. Before i was a truck driver.
    I work on average 12 to 14 hours a day usually 6 days a week.

    Dunno because i do local transport, not intercity or interregional transport. In a small town like this it's usually people going to a village in the middle of nowhere and the nearby hospital and the usual topics are market gossip, recent deaths, drug operations and how shitty work is.

    I tend to block all talk from people and focus on driving. In part to pay more attention to the road but mainly because i'm pissed and they don't pay me to socialize

    In terms of Spain, i make decent money. A friend of mine who is an Engineer earns a bit more than me and as a truck driver i earned almost double what i earn now. Truck driving is less stressful, but more time consuming and tiresome. Plus, there is also the fact that you will be at home 1 day per week and it also means showering 1 day per week.

    Going back to driving trucks is my backup option. It's nifty, i'll get hired on the spot and i'll get loads of money despite the shitty conditions. And also the work colleagues that smoke, drink and fuck whores on the regular.

    Then i'm pretty boned. My teacher in Driving school already told me "You're mad, dumb or a masochist to be a self employed truck driver in this country". You will be eating shit a lot of the time in terms of taxes and regulations that a company doesn't.

    So yeah... Not happening. At least i'll take my stint in the bus biz as a learning experience. And also to toughen up

    Also, there is the issue with where you park your truck. After all, he already warned me about every morning checking the tank cap (if someone stole your fuel), the engine (if someone stole the battery) and the exhaust (if someone stole the cathalitic converter).

    Diesel stealing is extremely common where i live so leaving your truck in the open is asking to getting your diesel siphoned. And you also have to pay toll on the main highways around here, so operating by yourself is pretty steep.

    Also there are fines and whatnot, but the average logistics company around here takes 10K in fines a year and still turns massive profits. As a self employed chump, they'll probably fleece you alive

    Curious that this is going in the US. Here in Europe used vehicles (specially big ones) are selling like hotcakes. The market is booming like nothing else and the two companies i worked with keep expanding despite not having enough drivers.

    I think this is because the massive shortage on spare parts there is at the moment. Very concerning
