Version two of my little #zine #filmphotography project, in which I belatedly fix the set of horizontally reversed images and manage to cut and fold without getting my hands too stained.

Still off my awful laserjet but it's coming along! Next to get a few from Staples. Omitted is the back cover due to Mastodon limits but hey, it's okay!

Though @Gargron, is there any particular reason four images was picked instead of five? Is this an ActivityPub thing?

@skinnylatte I came away with a similar impression after visiting London (though I only had enough time to take in the basics). I feel like at the time I went that late night service was very limited compared to NYC, but I could be wrong.

Honestly, the most heartbreaking thing is looking at the proposed subway maps of the mid-20th century and seeing how much vision was lost because of redlining and general racial animus/NIMBYism.

@skinnylatte Hard to beat the MTA's combined subway/bus coverage anywhere else in the States.

I know it must look primitive in many ways to people from other parts of the globe, but I believe I remember reading somewhere that it's one of the most socioeconomically egalitarian transit networks out there.

I love this city and living here has fundamentally altered how I travel. The lesson I learned is that you really can live somewhere for years -- if not your whole life -- and never get close to "seeing it all".

So now when I travel I'm happy to stay away from the "checklist" touristy spots and just wander, knowing that as long as what I see is enjoyable and new, the trip will be enjoyable.

@skinnylatte Few people ever get to experience how big the country is even if they live within its borders their whole lives. It's kind of wild.

What brings you out our way?

I was cursing the reappearance of the old "when the moon hits your eye ... that's a-moray" and I realized it probably showed up because of @skinnylatte and the endless nautical puns that come from her.

@skinnylatte I sat here for an unfortunate amount of time trying to figure out if you'd moved accounts and were testing federation before I blinked and finally stopped autocorrecting "anemone".

@Gargron My personal experience is that the "cheap" consumer film stocks (Colorplus, Gold, Max, X-TRA, Superia, etc.) look really lovely exposed a stop over, and a lot less so a stop under.

And given how many of these films were loaded into cheap/disposable lenses with slow lenses, it's little wonder that they've developed a reputation for being muddy and low-quality.

They just need a chance and a bit more light to shine!

@dansup @pixelfed *Strongly* prefer the separated hashtags where they're parsable (I've mixed thoughts on how to handle inline #hashtags as opposed to ones put at the end).

It just looks so much cleaner.

@Gargron I remain somewhat torn on whether or not I should post photos here or on Pixelfed on a separate account. Fediverse can be a bit confusing at times.

@pixelfed The shared block/mute lists is a great idea, especially because one of the downsides of the Fediverse is on display right now with the discussions over at kbin about lemmynsfw. Will it include the ability to also block entire instances, or just individual accounts?
