i don't mean this in a critical way but just as a general question: do you think the entire concept of a ‘gun club’ reifies the attitude you're objecting to here? like... could we imagine a way to do what a gun club does without making it specifically about guns? are people already doing this?

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (wednesday@ni.hil.ist)'s status on Friday, 28-Jul-2023 02:05:28 JST Crazy Ex-Girlfriend if a "death cult" means accepting that death is natural and necessary, perhaps i *am* part of a death cult.
didn't Edelman already teach us that the "death drive" is something to be embraced, not suppressed in the name of futurism?

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (wednesday@ni.hil.ist)'s status on Tuesday, 25-Jul-2023 14:39:36 JST Crazy Ex-Girlfriend maybe a different way to look at it: 'fedi' is not a unified or coherent thing which can 'have' anything (like a paedo problem or whatever). it's a collection of disparate people participating in a loosely affiliated network and naturally reflects society, so if society has a paedo problem, then fedi will have a paedo problem, but that's not an attribute of fedi specifically.
or to put it another way: does it make sense to say that 'email has a paedo problem' or 'postal mail has a paedo problem'?
(i'm not sure this analogy entirely works because fedi is much less used than email and has a particular bias in its demographics, but in principle...)

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (wednesday@ni.hil.ist)'s status on Monday, 12-Jun-2023 20:13:35 JST Crazy Ex-Girlfriend that doesn't surprise me, i never believed Lewis's protestations that she was an innocent journalist being harassed by trans activists for no reason
but the Guardian under its current editorship (Katharine Viner) has abandoned all pretence and gone all in with the anti-trans 'feminist' angle
